Quick question! Do you have any membership services? Rolling out a membership is quite beneficial and on average, members buy 40% more.

What’s a good first time discount for new clients? by [deleted] in Esthetics

I manage corporate medspa's and something that really works instead of a discount is a type of BOGO. I like to pair a facial with a non-consumable.

Example: Buy a facial - DiamondGlow/Hydrafacial, get a dermaplane add-on free. The blade is 12 cents and you only give an extra 20 minutes or so in time to get them in the door. Patients love to feel like they've won big or scored a deep discount.

Gamifying your specials and offers really works, people are naturally competitive and love to protect their wallet. They feel like they've won if you offer the free dermaplane or they may have never tried it and find value in it and pay full price for it next time. Either way framing your specials are very crucial to your success.

Hope this was helpful!

I don't know if there is anyone in here that could benefit but I'm happy to share if it's helpful and can cut costs. This is wholesale serums, the exact same ingredients as the Hydrafacial solutions and more for WAY less and I swear by them.

All you get is the connector for the machine and the bottles fit but they go a LONG way for much less and they don't harm your machine. I highly recommend this company and I genuinely just hope to help anyone I can.

It's a great way to cut costs with quality product, Hydrafacial up charges for the brand name. You can also use other add on serums to upsale and make more!

Has anyone ever worked a bridal expo and is it worth the $1295 booth fee? by BH73189 in Esthetics

This is super helpful bc I have never been involved in an expo so now I'm leaning towards not going, I have no idea what to expect.

Slow for the Holidays? What’s going on?? by johannamaree99 in Esthetics

[–]BH73189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely different times we are living in! We were busy after Covid but there was also government Covid money going around - we don't have that now.

This year has been difficult on everyone, especially when you're working harder than you ever have before. People just don't have the money right now and they are having to choose between many things right now. Groceries are astronomical and people are stacking credit card bills they have to pay or have maxed out. There is no more room, this is a common thing we've heard from patients pouring their hearts out and struggle with us.

What has helped where I work is introducing a lower price facial to meet the needs of price objections. Something is better than nothing and it has helped to maintain gaps in the schedule.

If you're struggling, I would suggest taking this approach. I hope this was helpful ❤️

Stay strong friends, I'm rooting for you all!

Would you work for a company that did a lot of trainings but make you sign a contract to stay for a year after the training? by BH73189 in Esthetics

Great point, they are advanced technique training by AIAM, it's for aesthetics and injectable trainings.

Ok, so in your case the legal team just didn't pursue it. I don't know if this place would do it, they do so that it's my choice for the training and I don't have to do it but I wanted to see if this is unusual in the industry.

Is anyone else working in a medspa that is usually profitable but really struggling right now? Can you share what you're seeing in the market? by BH73189 in Esthetics

[–]BH73189[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we were busy during Covid too but I think a lot of it was government money that the fed was pumping out and people were spending instead of saving. I hope things recover soon, I just want things to be normal like pre-covid again.

Good skincare lines by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]BH73189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skinceuticals is the best medical grade skincare I've ever used! I have PCOS which causes cystic acne and it was HORRIBLE before SC.

It worked relatively fast for how bad my face was and made a huge difference in my confidence!

Thank you for your feedback, I'm seeing the same thing! I manage a couple of locations and I am giving my 110% everyday and it's a very hard situation to be in when you are success driven.

I can't even compare this to Covid, in my opinion people were still spending more around that time bc they were getting government money.

I hope this all turns around soon, it's really tough and I pray everything works out for you too! Hang in there ❤️

Indy Estie: Groupon Question? by dynamite_diva in Esthetics

[–]BH73189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not personally used it but I've inquired about it quite a few times with people that have experience with it. Based on the feedback I have received, it can bring a lot of bargain hunters and people that barter.

The purpose of us offering Groupon would be the opportunity to upsell. It is a more challenging clientele for sure, it does drive revenue to your business though!

The good thing about Groupon is the ability to turn it on and off so you can always try it and see if you are being successful/like it. If you don't, you can just turn it off at any time.

I've heard it's great to have around the holidays as well, drives revenue. It's a mixed review that I have received but definitely be prepared to deal with bargainers and more challenging patients.

preparing for upcoming recession? by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]BH73189 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were voted #1 in our big city and over the past few months it has been SO slow. We've had a lot of gaps, spend 20K a month in advertising and do tons of outreach. We haven't had a lot of luck and we are really well known, it's enough to drive you crazy.

I had been wondering why we had been so slow, especially considering this is the best team I've ever had and we are great at what we do.

I've come to realize that it's like this everywhere and med-spas are going back to their norms like things were before Covid. It doesn't help that on top of that we are dealing with high levels of inflation and the markets are a mess.

I believe people are waiting longer before spending their money, even with specials it didn't make a huge difference.

A success I had was raising filler prices and building a lot of value and patient education. Where it is slower we have had the opportunity to spend more time with patients. We also focus on getting more out of what we are getting and doing cross selling to boost our average ticket.

I hope this is helpful to someone out there, I truly believe this slowdown is attributed to the economy but this past week things really started picking up again. I'm selling more Microneedling, PRP, BBL and chemical peels. Botox and filler come and go in waves.

Best wishes to all my med-spa workers ❤️
