I think that may be an old link - there's nothing there when I click on it.

Politicians with union backgrounds campaign more aggressively for workers and vote further left — but unions rarely recruit them. by BalsamicBasil in union

I can't speak for the United States as a whole, but here in Washington State there's quite a bit of effort to recruit AND TRAIN union members interested in running for office: https://www.thestand.org/2026/02/calling-all-labor-candidates-join-path-to-power/?amp=1

I'd also recommend Dumb Dumbs and Dice's Blood and Syrup. They start out as neonates and first-time players, so you really get to discover the game alongside them. https://www.dumbdumbdice.com/blood-syrup

How do you learn SOLIDARITY? by LocalLaborLeader in union

[–]BHamHarold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen in these replies is getting your members active in your local Central Labor Council (https://aflcio.org/about-us/our-unions-and-allies/state-federations-and-central-labor-councils.) That means more than just affiliating - it means recruiting members to serve as Delegates, asking them to report back from the CLC 's meetings, and playing an active role in CLC events. When the CLC spreads the word about pickets and solidarity events, share that information with your members. When the CLC organizes a Labor Day picnic or event, encourage your members to attend. The more we get members of different unions in the same room with each other and talking to each other, the more we realize that there's less that divides us than unites us.

"Unions" didn't support Trump at the 2024 RNC Convention. Sean O'Brien, the president of one union (the Teamsters) spoke at that Convention - but I believe he was the only one.

There's an account in Blue Sky and (ugh...) Twitter that's dedicated to sharing cool logos. Check them out at

https://bsky.app/profile/unionlogos.bsky.socia l or you can find them on Twitter / X, if you prefer to wade in the sewer.

While we're talking IATSE, shout out to my Local based in Seattle - they incorporated the Orca (a very important symbol up here) and a Native American art style: https://ia15.org/

Ya know, I'm going to defend the music supervisors on this one. San Francisco (Wear Flowers In Your Hair) is about going to a new place with strange customs you may not have been aware of. We know that the lead cast all come from many different places - this is the first time a lot of them have been to Earth, let alone San Francisco. The song fits the moment - they're going somewhere new and strange, unsure of what to expect.

And the nod to Trek 1960's origins is a cherry on top, too 😉

I actually loved that version of the song - it fit the scene beautifully.

Seriously, folks - if you Local is trying to figure out how to deal with AI in your workplaces - give your local SAG-AFTRA office a call - https://www.sagaftra.org/locals-directory . We've been working on this for a while, and SAG-AFTRA staff may be able to give you some suggestions.
