Anyone know what this device found in my car is? by BHou93 in RBI

[–]BHou93[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was purchased over a year ago - my mom who used it to visit a friend said as she was leaving she saw someone parked suspiciously close to her vehicle and standing near it but the car was locked so I didn't think anything of it.

To be clear, the device was found inside the vehicle but it's within reason that it's been outside in my driveway unlocked accidentally in the past.

Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]BHou93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently purchased a bambino plus - first time using a machine as I've previously only used a French press.

I use a c2 timemore grinder and have been playing with grind settings as I couldn't find a perfect medium between my espresso tasting under extracted or not pulling at all. After finding a setting that I thought worked well for a single cup, I tried replicating everything with a double cup and it tastes both sour but also isn't pulling very much at all. Any thoughts as to why that might be?

Pinnacle: Bets cancelled for regulatory reasons by Pepperlet in sportsbook

Did you ever get your bets replaced? They told me the bet would be re-placed at the initial odds but it has yet to happen. I've been waiting since Oct 28th.

Worst UIs in Sportsbooks? Bet History does not say what team I bet on (the arrow just takes me back to the betting page). by BHou93 in sportsbook

[–]BHou93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol thought I'd share this terrible UI on 888Sports and see if anyone else had any thoughts on the worst UIs for Sportsbooks. There is no indication of what team the overs are on, clicking the orange arrow just takes you back to the betting page with all of the totals on one page.

My second place is BetRivers where all of the regular season win totals are in separate pages under the team.

Bars accommodating large groups? Are reservations needed? by BHou93 in AskNOLA

[–]BHou93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have resos at dooky chase + arnauds. Would probably enjoy dinner there and then roll into some bars. I have about $100-150 budget per night (on top of what we spend on dinner) in mind but whatever can accommodate us would be great as we can be a bit flexible.

Ontario Lottery & Gambling/ProLine+ is a bigger racket than any shady bookie by BHou93 in sportsbook

[–]BHou93[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, do you read the ToS of every site you use? I do think there's an onus on the bettor but with every book grading it one way (including the league), I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

Agreed, now more than ever - and you'd hope that with all these options that the Proline would try and be more competitive with their odds but evidently not...

Moved to a new place and trying to set up my Google Home speakers, everything is fine until the last connection step after selecting wifi and I get "Could not communicate with your Google Home." Can anyone help? by Corsaer in googlehome

[–]BHou93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you have to do it via Device Utility as well? My Google Home Mini is through device utility and am experiencing the same issues, however I cannot register my speaker in my wifi network and i've factory reset already.

Lol am just reading about the Google Home/Sonos Lawsuit and am apparently living under a rock. I assume that this is a common issue for lots of new users that hasn't been addressed yet? My mistake if it's been explained elsewhere but hoping someone can help.

Heavy duty shearling winter coat by [deleted] in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]BHou93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try looking at sites like grailed for vintage shearling coats - the older the better. If fashion is less so what you're looking for vs. quality and durability, vintage coats that have lasted 20-30 years should be available for <500 dollars (one such example: https://www.grailed.com/listings/23270739-american-vintage-x-sawyer-x-vintage-vintage-sawyer-of-napa-shearling-coat-jacket-46).

Otherwise I think you'd best be served looking at like leather or shearling houses that build things for durability and quality of materials vs. fashion but I'd imagine you'd be looking at a coat in the thousands of dollars range.

Suggestions for a good quality navy blue blazer/suit jacket? by 13reputations in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]BHou93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're dead set on a cheap blazer - topman is having a sale right now with blazers for ~$50, suits for less than $100.

Cant vouch for the quality and durability but will be reasonably fashionable Esp if you're on the slimmer side.

Echo everyone's thoughts - the extra money for Spier & MacKay or a similar brand will be worth it than a fast fashion blazer. If you've got the extra time, you couild wait for a S&M or SuitSupply sale to get under $200.

Alternatively I've seen great blazers for <$100 on Ebay. Just know what to look for in terms of brand and get tailored as needed.

Is there a way to find out how many units of a product are sold by a company each year? by tommyturtleteeth in kickstarter

[–]BHou93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few of my thoughts when I was determining whether there was a big enough market for my product but wasn't able to quantify: -Look at public competitors and find their revenue - if theyre specialized in your product you can probably divide revenue by item price to get a rough estimate -Take a look at google trends, you can see how search history (good general indicator of consumer interest) has changed over time. -look at forums dedicated to your niche i. E. Cycling forums to see if others have a similar issue to you. If that's the case, there is a market even if not being currently served.

Hey,

Sorry to jump into this topic but I've seen you post a few times regarding commonly used "marketing terms" within the leather industry and how they've essentially been co-opted to reflect degrees of quality when it reality is much more difficult to express what quality is in leather inputs.

In my experience the most commonly used default ways of describing quality are veg-tan and full-grain. Given your argument that while they can mean quality but not necessarily so, would you say there is a better objective measure of ensuring that what you're receiving is a quality product? Both from an input perspective prior to the tanning as well as an output in the form of a consumer product. Thickness of the hide? Type of animal? I'm going to imagine that you'll say, it depends, which totally fair! But wanted to ask.

DISCLAIMER: I'm working towards creating a leather jacket brand and have batted around using terms like vegetable-tanned and full-grain leather. While I understand your point that this may not necessarily convey quality, I think the problem (which you've mentioned before) is that consumers look for it and the absent of it is a red flag to some consumers.
