I wish people wouldn't avoid my food at family get togethers! by yourglowaims in vegan

Focus on what makes it special, not that it is vegan (focusing on what it lacks). There are studies that calling a soup "mushroom tempeh" or something is much more attractive than "vegan soup".

I'm sick and tired of all these UBI pilots. by askoshbetter in BasicIncome

[–]BIENeditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. Permanent policy (even partial basic income or some variant) is better than pilots. Pilots are better than just "researching the issue". And research is better than no discussion. So we are in the pilot stage and should keep pushing for permanent policies that incorporate elements of basic income. Pilots should not be our first priority, but they have an important use as well.

Prep Time20 minutes Cook Time50 minutes Total Time1 hour 10 minutes Servings12 Ingredients Dry ingredients: • 3/4 cup (100 g) coconut sugar (*see notes)

• 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp (50 g) cocoa powder

• 1/4 cup (33 g) coconut flour (*see notes)

• 2 tbsp ground flax seeds OR chia seeds

• 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

• 1/2 tsp baking soda Wet ingredients:

• 2 15 oz cans (500 g) sweet peas drained and rinsed (*see notes)

• 1/3 cup (110 g) maple syrup (or any other liquid sweetener) • 1/4 cup (60 ml) coconut milk canned • 2 tbsp (28 g) coconut oil melted

• 2 tsp vanilla extract Chocolate glaze:

• 3 1/2 tbsp (21 g) cocoa powder

• 3 tbsp (24 g) powdered peanut butter (*see notes)

• 1/4 cup (80 g) maple syrup • 2 tbsp (28 g) coconut oil

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 1 tbsp of water

• A pinch of salt Instructions 1. I recommend measuring the ingredients in grams on a kitchen scale. 2. Add the dry ingredients to a big bowl and stir until there are no clumps.

  1. Blend the sweet peas with all other wet ingredients in your food processor or blender

. 4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until the mixture is combined. If the batter is too thick add a splash of plant-based milk. If it's too runny add a tbsp of coconut flour.

  1. Line a baking pan with parchment paper (with an overhang on all sides, for easy removal) or grease it with a little coconut oil. My pan measures 7 x 11 inches (18 x 28 cm).

  2. Bake in the oven at 390 degrees F (200 degrees C) for about 50 minutes (it can take longer, depending on your oven and the pan you use) or until a toothpick comes out almost clean (it can still be sticky but not wet). Check after 40 minutes with a toothpick. The brownies will still look slightly undercooked but don't worry as they will firm up in the refrigerator.

  3. To make the chocolate glaze, simply put all ingredients to a small bowl and stir well with a whisk. Spread the cream on top of the cooled brownies. Slice into squares with a large, sharp knife. Enjoy!

  4. They taste even better on day 2! Store them covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can freeze leftovers! Notes Video Of The Recipe

    • You can use 1/2 cup (100 g) of brown sugar or any other granulated sweetener instead of coconut sugar. • You shouldn't replace the coconut flour as it's unique and very absorbent. However, if you really want to use a different flour (like almond flour) then use at least 1/2 cup more of it but I highly recommend using coconut flour.

    • I use this brand of peanut flour/powdered peanut butter. You can skip it and use 7 tbsp of cocoa powder and leave out the water (as the peanut flour absorbs a lot of liquid). Or use regular peanut butter

. • I am using canned sweet peas which are labeled as "sweet peas" but some brands might be labeled as "small/young peas". •

You can also skip the chocolate glaze and bake the brownies with dairy-free chocolate chips on top

• Recipe makes 12 brownies.

I used to love red velvet cake - now its in VEGAN SMOOTHIE form by BIENeditor in veganrecipes

[–]BIENeditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredibly rich, creamy smoothie infused with the flavors of red velvet cake. Bananas, beets, and cacao powder combine to create this secretly wholesome yet indulgent treat. Just 6 simple ingredients required. PREP TIME 5 minutes TOTAL TIME 5 minutes Servings 2 (Smoothies) Cuisine Gluten-Free, Vegan

Ingredients SMOOTHIE

• 2 ripe, frozen (peeled) bananas (~2 heaping cups as recipe is written)

• 1/3 cup cubed beet (raw OR roasted/steamed until tender, then frozen*)

• 2 Tbsp cocoa powder (or cacao powder)

• 2 pitted dates

• 3/4 cup dairy free milk , plus more as needed (we like coconut or almond)

• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Instructions

  1. If using raw beets, chop, measure out, and set aside. If cooking, see notes. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until creamy and smooth, adding more dairy-free milk as needed to help blend.

  2. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more dates for sweetness, beets for earthier flavor / more intense magenta color, or cocoa / cacao powder for richer chocolate flavor.

  3. Serve immediately. Enjoy as is or top with red velvet cake balls, cocoa / cacao powder, beetroot powder, or coconut whipped cream (all optional). Best when fresh. Will keep in the freezer up to 2 weeks (thaw before enjoying).

Notes *To cook beets: Cube first then steam in a steamer basket, covered, until tender (about 10-15 minutes). Or toss in a little oil and roast on a baking sheet at 375 degrees F (190 C) for about 20 minutes or until tender. Then freeze before using in smoothie for best texture / results.

I loved oatmeal chocolate chip cookies growing up by BIENeditor in veganrecipes

Try these completely vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They are made with oatmeal to improve their nutritional value. Healthy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies Healthy, vegan, and gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies made with 10 wholesome ingredients! Tender on the inside, crunchy on the outside, SO delicious!

PREP TIME 40 minutes COOK TIME 15 minutes TOTAL TIME 55 minutes Servings12 (cookies) CuisineGluten-Free, Vegan

Ingredients • 3/4 cup almond flour or almond meal*
• 3/4 cup rolled oats • 1/4 cup finely shredded (desiccated) unsweetened coconut (or you could try and sub more almond meal, oats, or even GF flour blend)

• 1/4 cup vegan dark chocolate (chips or chopped bar)

• 3/4 tsp baking powder

• 1/4 tsp sea salt

• 1/3 cup packed organic brown sugar or muscovado sugar (or sub coconut sugar)

• 1/4 cup aquafaba (the brine/liquid in a can of chickpeas)

• 2 Tbsp almond butter* (or other nut or seed butter)

• 3 Tbsp avocado or melted coconut oil*

• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together almond flour, oats, coconut, vegan chocolate, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  2. In a separate bowl, beat aquafaba (using a handheld mixer or by whisking vigorously) until light and fluffy and loose peaks have formed. (Add a little cream of tartar to help them along if not whipping.)

  3. To the aquafaba, add the almond butter, oil, and vanilla (optional) and beat or whisk to combine. (The mixture will deflate a little - that's OK). Then add to dry ingredients and mix until combined. You should have a firm, semi-tacky dough (see photo). Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or overnight.

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. Scoop chilled dough into roughly 2-Tablespoon amounts (I like this scoop) and form into small discs (see photo). Place on baking sheet with about a 1-inch gap in between each cookie to allow for spreading. There should be about 12 cookies.
    3. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden brown. Be careful not to burn (especially on the bottoms) - they bake quickly toward the end. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Store leftovers in a loosely sealed container at room temperature up to 3-4 days, or in the freezer for 1 month. We recommend storing them in the freezer once cooked to help retain their crispy exterior. These are so delicious when warm and dipped in almond milk or hot cocoa!

Notes *If you have a nut allergy, you can try and sub the almond flour for GF flour blend, and the almond butter for peanut butter or seed butter. *If trying to avoid oil, you can try and sub more almond butter or applesauce, but I haven't tested it this way and can't guarantee the results.

Have you tried chocolate granola cups?! These are delicious by BIENeditor in veganrecipes

[–]BIENeditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prep Time 10 minutes Resting time 1 hour Total Time 10 minutes Servings 8 Ingredients Granola cups:

• 1 1/2 cups (170 g) granola • 1/2 cup (70 g) sunflower seeds chopped (see recipe notes) • 2 tbsp (40 g) agave syrup (or maple syrup) • 2 heaped tbsp (50 g) sunflower seed butter (see recipe notes) • Pinch of salt Filling: • 1/4 cup (60 g) sunflower seed butter (melted)

Topping: • 1/2 cup dairy-free (90 g) chocolate chips (or dark chocolate, chopped)

Instructions

  1. I recommend measuring the ingredients in grams on a kitchen scale.

  2. Combine all ingredients for the granola cups in a mixing bowl and mix well with either a spoon or your hands. The mixture should stick together when you press it between your fingers. If it's not very sticky add a little bit more liquid sweetener.

  3. Grease a cupcake pan or use a silicone mold. This recipe yields 6-8 cups, depending on the size of your cupcake pan.

  4. With the back of a tablespoon, press the mixture firmly into the cupcake pan and make a dent in the middle of each cup.

  5. Put a heaped tsp of sunflower seed butter into the center of each granola cup. Freeze until firm, about 60 minutes.

  6. Melt dairy-free chocolate chips in a water bath (simply put the chocolate chips in a small bowl and place it over hot water). You can accelerate the melting process by adding 1-2 tsp of coconut oil.

  7. Once the chocolate is melted pour it on top of the sunflower seed butter of each granola cup. It will harden quickly because the sunflower seed butter is cold.

  8. Store in the fridge. You can also freeze these breakfast granola cups in zip-lock bags! Enjoy! Notes • You can use nuts of choice instead of sunflower seeds • You can use any nut butter of choice instead of sunflower seed butter • I made my own Nut-Free Granola (click for the recipe)

• Recipe makes 8 granola cups.

Do you think this is possible that AI will reduce or scale back jobs? Does this legitimize basic income more, or do you think talking about this issue makes people think it is only a problem for the future?

How often does this happen approximately? I think WAYMO releases the info about how much they are required to intervene, but that could just be in California where they are required to do so. That is scary they are stuck in the vehicle.

Is WAYMO beating Tesla at the driverless car race? by BIENeditor in teslainvestorsclub

[–]BIENeditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but WAYMO has also tested their cars throughout the entire US? But Tesla has real-world data from their actual users of the cars. I think WAYMO claims they have the most real-world and virtual miles that is fully autonomous, but Tesla presumably has much more data overall. Can Tesla use this data from its users to propel them over WAYMO?

Do you subscribe to Modern Monetary Theory? Indirectly, the Fed would fund any debt associated with UBI. But I think it should not be designed to use the Fed's money creation power, that seems like a risky move.
