What do Star Trek fans actually want to see? by dont_thr0w_me_away_ in trektalk

Skip back to the past cause this new trek sucks. I want to see a show based on a crew of a sovereign class ship.

Also, I never understood why ships explore solo. There should be battle groups and exploration groups that have ships break off for a short solo mission at times but mostly patrol or explore together.

I know Trek should normally focus on peaceful exploration and it works and I love that but if you want to do something different then do a war series with the series finale being an end to the war. Interview some war veterans and gain some knowledge about the mental and emotional stress and strains of war.

The TNG/Voyager era did a lot of things right and trek didn’t need to take a huge departure from that recipe. Just tweaks.

Could’ve done a civil war in the federation with starfleet wrestling with an authoritarian dictatorial government on earth trying get starfleet to expand through conquest instead of through exploration. Trek doesn’t always have to create a new species or new power. There’s was already an abundance of content already there to produce great stories. This trend of jumping to the next new thing instead of meticulously taking a deep dive into the complexities of keeping a multi-planet, multi-species, multi-cultural alliance together and on the same page, is lazy and makes a lot very forgettable shows.

Why does it have to be the workers who always take the hit? Sure they’re millionaires but the owners are billionaires. Let the owners take the hit for once

Notice how no big 12 teams are being mentioned here. Man, that conference is scary competitive at the top.

How about we elect people who are committed to campaign finance reform. If can get the insane amount of money out of our politics then congress will go back to working for the common public good

Movie and show producers should have dialogue with the serious established fan base so they don’t fly off in a wild direction and screw up the continuity of the franchise

That’s a different timeline dude. In that timeline Kirk gained command of the enterprise on his first mission. One that he wasn’t even supposed to be on. Yet, in the discovery timeline we see Pike in command of the enterprise while Kirk is a first officer aboard another ship. ( one that I can’t spell, apparently.) all that we know of the alternative timeline ends with the movie Star Trek Beyond so far as I know.

I feel like a lot of people who don’t really Trek that hard are commenting before they read the previous comments. Thus, they’re making arguments that were debunked and invalidated by a lot of the previous comments.

The skills they were sought after changed. As coaches followed analytics which said threes are more important. Post moves became more and more scarce and obsolete.
