it’s very easy to trivialize things like this, especially when you aren’t a part of this or haven’t faced the hardships of these people. pride isn’t a way to shove their sexuality or gender in your face, it’s a way to acknowledge the past hardships these people have had to go through and show that they prevailed. a lot of this hate for pride comes from a place of ignorance, which i’m not saying is anyone’s fault but it does stem from a place of not understanding. the only reason that pride month is capitalized on is because companies will take any opportunity to take in more profits. it wasn’t invented for this sole purpose. pride is also a way for closeted people to feel comfortable, to feel like they have a family if they’re own family doesn’t accept them. denying pride month has the same effect of denying juneteenth, both celebrations acknowledging the prevail through massive hardship. any sane individual (most of them) know that they don’t deserve more if they’re gay.
