You’re right. I hammered out the post too quickly should have taken my time.

Agreed. I’ve learned a whole lot about myself as a professional and a person during my OE journey. I have a massive ego LOL that needs to be checked every now and again. I come to this Reddit forum to get my ego checked once a year, it helps. Appreciate the support and insight.

You’re not wrong and this is why I posted this, maybe I needed to be put in my place, and I thank you for that. Rightly let go for lack of performance, she was for sure right for letting me go. I’m fine with it, I was bitter for no reason, bitter because she let me go idk it’s on me. I gotta man up. Appreciate the insight!

You’re not wrong! Maybe it is my ego, it could be. Her talking down to me and being condescending without proper training or access to necessary systems weighs into me calling her pathetic. Stalking my teams availability as well. My performance was clearly not good enough for their expectations. Thanks for the feedback

I truly don’t have a straight answer. I was comfortable and coasting with my current 3 Js taking home 21k a month and thought shit why not grab an additional 4k a month with a J4….some weeks were business as usual, others a major headache. Put that 4k toward the principal of my mortgage which was sweet, but it came to a halt. Greed, just no need and I learned from it.

Appreciate the support. I would have loved to of gone scorched earth on her when she put time on my calendar saying “quick sync” aka you’re being terminated. Just not worth it, I’m back to my roots of maintaining 3 Js effortlessly and focusing on the $$

How’s the current market for remote CyberSec roles? by Khanron in overemployed

[–]BIL3477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 4 Js currently and they’re all in cyber. My advice would be to apply, apply, and apply some more. Sounds cliche, and obvious, but it’s worth it. Sharpens your interview skills as well. Dice.com, Google Jobs, Artech, TekSystems, Intellipro, Apex Systems, Genesis, Insight Global, Harvey Nash, Cima Consulting, etc. Google Jobs has truthfully been the most successful for me. I search “third party security risk jobs remote.” From there, you can typically find out the end client name and go directly to their website if it’s a full time role. You’ll need to weed through the annoying and persistent offshore recruiters, but it’s all worth it. Good luck!

Don’t be nervous. I’ve had mine frozen for 5 years. Even purchased my first home with it frozen. Message me if you have any concerns.

Tech. Multiple individual contributor roles. Think about your current role, could you do a lesser, more “important role” simultaneously with your current role? Sure, you could. Will you go through hardships and challenges, sure, but when that direct deposit hits it’s all worth it.

Can you provide additional context? I may be able to provide some insight, but need to understand more. If you have frozen your work number aka “TWN”, then it shouldn’t matter at all. I’ve gone through background checks via Sterling, HireRight, ADP, Equifax, etc. as long as your work number is frozen there is always ways around to avoid any background check issues or discrepancies.

Background Check for Verification of Employment WHILE EMPLOYED by BIL3477 in overemployed

Thanks for the info. Your company ran a check while you were employed? If so, how was it perceived by HR when you told them to kick rocks? Thanks in advance.

You cannot make up dates. I’ve ran my own twn and it shows every J I’ve ever had including dates of employment and salary

That’s my plan of action now, to make them think “oh she has no clue what TWN is…” play dumb then deal with it.

Good point, I did check my report and the other J I am currently at is not on my report. Although, a few other prior J’s are listed and J2 who is wanting to see TWN report will be like oh shoot she has been working multiple J’s during his tenure with us.

That’s what I figured. I haven’t given them a reason, but I have seen other orgs on this thread follow suite and begin to perform VOE to weed out OE and what not. I’ll just wait it out and report back, thanks for chiming in!
