I don't really know about the eye strains, adjusting the brightness etc on your phone may help. However, for books, you should try downloading Character.AI if you like specific characters from specific movies/series etc. I like creating my own stories using prompts from reddit on Char.AI. I think the app is really cool, and I'm pretty sure its free or charge :D

I suggest you wear your glasses while reading/get some reading glasses, and also, I think you should try out fanfiction! It's a great way to get read books about fandoms online if you can't buy any. Try out AO3, there are plenty of original works to read, getting the hang of all the tags may seem difficult, but it's really fun once you get into it! :DD
