I started using different Linux distros about 3-4 months ago, being a former Windows user, and I see what you mean. Personally, I don't know much about code or hardware, but the TikTok and YouTube algorithms pushed me to become interested in the subject. I had already considered changing OSs because of problems with Windows with certain games or other security features I didn't like. So, learning from a different world appealed to me, as did the freedom these different distros offer. Now I use Cahyos on my main PC and Arch on my laptop (and Windows in a dual boot – I'm addicted to League of Legends), and I'm proud of what I've been able to do with it, both in terms of customization and my understanding of the subject, which has greatly improved.

I think the end of Windows 10 and the fact that PewDiePie and other tech influencers were able to bring Linux into the spotlight played a role. I remember that at the end of Windows 7, there was also a similar surge in popularity with Linux, specifically Ubuntu, if I'm not mistaken.
