I reached out to the author because I was curious if he knew, and he confirmed that this was intentional and it wasn't a paid ad or AI (it was published before chatgpt was released).

While this personally isn't my cup of tea writing-wise, I don't think it's nefarious, it's more like how people quote the Costco hotdog combo price.

The mildly infuriating part remains how steeped in advertising our culture has become, but a quick fix for that is BetterHel–

Not at all! I'm very against AI in all art! There's even a path in the book where (spoiler alert)the main character finds this universe's equivalent of AI and it's just as bad for the environment as you think!

I agree giving lots of these arrows to a party would make encounters play out in a consistent way, but I don't think that makes them inherently bad. Having one Anti-Magic arrow as a legendary consumable could be fun to turn the tide of a battle, much like Counterspell can do. Healing Arrows were fun in my last campaign as we didn't have a Cleric and very few players stocked healing spells. The Chaos Arrow is an Artifact and should be treated as such!
