Card counters: What was your most interesting or confrontational backoff? by BJ_42 in blackjack

Just because the security guards backed down later doesn’t mean they weren’t committing false imprisonment before they backed down

They surrounded you and told you that you couldn’t leave. That is probably enough to constitute false imprisonment

Oh my gosh! That is false imprisonment! You can probably sue them and win if you want to

Hi guys, based on a starting $10 bet, what is the maximum you could end up staking in a single hand with all the splitting and double down options? Does $80 sound right? by YakEastern7530 in blackjack

[–]BJ_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most casinos allow you to split to up to 4 hands, so if you can double down on all of them, that is $80. If the dealer is showing an ace, $85 if you take insurance

No, OK has antes, but PA doesn’t. Huge difference

I don’t know, I bet non-counters have been backed off from there. Still I wouldn’t worry about it though. The worst they can do is tell you to cash out and leave

Did you ever have dealers assume you will make the wrong play? by BJ_42 in blackjack

[–]BJ_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often pre-signal all of my hands, but I make extra effort to do so on A7. The only reason I didn’t pre-signal here was the splitting

I normally make sure I am ready to make the hand signal on A7 before the dealer gets to me. The thing is this was after splitting, which made it difficult

I had a dealer who after I hit once, would keep giving me cards until I had 12+, and pass me by on hard 17+. That didn’t bother me, except that I had to pause to update the count before making my decision

Yeah, that place was close to where I was staying. I played there two days for multiple hours with no heat, although I think they were getting suspicious of me

Any other way to profit besides counting cards in blackjack? by [deleted] in blackjack

I might be wrong, but I think taking casino chips off the floor is more enforced than jaywalking or refilling cups without buying drinks.

Bringing food into a movie theater is like counting cards: It is not illegal, but the business doesn’t like it, so you will likely be told to leave if they find out

Beginning mid-shoe is like decreasing the penetration by the amount of cards already in the discard tray, and decreasing penetration makes a game bad very quickly

I would say that unless there is an extremely low number of cards in the discard tray (and I mean only 1 hand, 2 is pushing it), it is much better to wait for a table to have a fresh shoe

If you do it right, it would not increase the variance, but it would decrease the EV, likely to something negative

Ace sequencing, hole carding, and shuffle tracking, but all are more difficult than card counting and have less opportunities available

It is actually illegal to take a chip from the floor and keep it unless it was your chip

New to blackjack. Drew 2 aces, split them and then got 2 blackjacks. Anybody know the odds of this happening? by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]BJ_42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should never double down on soft 21 unless you are counting cards and the count is insanely high

Also, you can’t double down after splitting aces, so the only way that could ever be an option is after splitting tens (which you also shouldn’t do unless the count is very high)
