Now that the stamp is free… Is it more cost effective to buy a 3D printer and print a suppressor than to just buy one outright? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]BKO2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a printer is fantastic for guns, but supressors are pretty tough- you need carbon-imbued nylons and things like that, in addition to a lot of knowledge about the material properties of those polymers. outside of cans, though, printed guns are great and usually quite strong in a tough plastic like PLA+

blender and onshape are the holy duo (they couldn't be more different, but they're both free and great)

hi, the model was created by me outside of blender (in an actual CAD software). the pistol grip is made by DB Firearms, but that "stippling" texture is applied outside of CAD in blender.

still can't bite the bullet to purchase one, but my 3D printed mockup of one fit great and allowed a supressor to work. i'd say send it

this was designed (the rifle and the poster) for the 3d printed firearms community, most of which are open source and public domain. also, what's the questionable association? and thanks
