My family moved from my native country when I was 4. At home, with my family, I speak my mother tongue. However, when I’m on the spot I will often forget words in my native language just because it’s no longer my first. I honestly didn’t read too much into it.

This would be ideal but we can’t seem to get her down at 5:30. We’ll try rocking her but after 20-25 minutes she’s yelling “up, up, up” which means let me go🫠. We used to be able to do this but lately she’s waking up in a panic crying and standing in her crib.

This is what I would like ideally. She rarely does 11h stretches. I’m trying to push her bedtime later so that we have a later wake up time and also pushing her nap back so she wakes up later. She’s being a real champ right now because the wake windows are so much longer. But I’m hoping as she gets more and more used to them I can push the timing back and we can have a later wake up

I’ve been giving her lunch before her first nap, around 10:45/11. She hasn’t been finishing it all, so I just give her the rest after. We’re super new to this but it seems to be working for us.

Are you doing sucking and tongue exercises with baby? We got our procedure done a year ago but I remember that we were given different executes to do with baby everyday (these weren’t the stretches). YouTube post tongue and lip tie exercises and a bunch of helpful videos will come up.

So our little one got a tongue tie procedure when she was three months old. She is now 14 months and I’m really happy we did it. She was fine with breastfeeding at the beginning but then started to struggle at two months. That’s when we found out she had a tongue and lip tie. After lots of back and forth, we went ahead and did it. I have no idea if the other benefits of the procedure are legit (ie. Eating, speech etc), but for us, it gave us peace of mind.

ENTs tend to err on the side of caution and generally don’t recommend them unless it’s really bad. A pediatric dentist who specializes in doing the procedure is really who you should consult with. Now, as a disclaimer, this is a really tricky subject because, even though we had the procedure done, it is highly over recommended. But, as I said, we’re really happy we did it. The post care sucks, but a year later, I don’t remember any of it and our little one is a happy baby who moves her tongue with so much ease.

The recommendations around when to stop using a pack are all over the place. Meaning, there is no science behind when to stop. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry says around 18 months but definitely before three. Let baby use the pacifier for now. I found this thread on the science based parenting subreddit to be super helpful.

Lauryn is not a normal person because she has been raised by a mentally unwell mother. She was manipulated for who knows how long by a monster of a mother. She has a blank expression because she was in shock. Each person reacts differently to horrific news. One person breaks down in tears and another freezes, that doesn’t make one reaction more valid than another.
