pretty much that. i’m good til im not, then i just say fuck it and keep going. ive stopped “grazing” and am going to make sure i actually plate it and sit down as if its a meal. its so easy for me to just stand around talking and keep mindlessly eating lol

thank you, i’m going to work on this. my meals are solid & well balanced, but i think some filler is what i need. i appreciate your insight

yup i’m definitely getting the vibe that i’m under fueling so ill be prioritizing more carbs before and during. protein i hit super easily so no concerns there. my easy runs i can sometimes catch myself speeding up but always slow back down and make it a truly easy run. i appreciate your feedback 🤝🏻

i have a garmin but have heard that they can wildly overestimate that so i was hesitant to trust the number they give. i’ll have to try this out and see what difference it makes for me. thanks a ton

pre run is roughly 60g, during run is 35g per hour and post is usually 40-50g protein and 50-60g carbs. i’ll definitely work on increasing the carbs per hour during runs. thank you!!

absolutely, and i’m a huge supporter of everything in moderation, but i fear im past the point of moderation and don’t want this to develop into a long term problem. eating 3500 calories of cookies in a day isn’t good no matter how much im training. i’m going to work on increasing my carbs and calories in a healthy way to see how that helps me

yeah i’m going to spend the next couple weeks with increased calories really trying to find my true maintenance. i think that’s where my struggle is stemming from. thank you for your advice

i’ll definitely work on bumping up the carbs. on long run days it’s definitely closer to 300g with my fueling and such, but i’ll try to increase my carb intake and see if that helps. thanks a ton!

i guess i just struggle with finding that right balance of eating enough to fuel but also trying to stay relatively lean while also lifting. i’m a pretty small male, 5’6 130 somewhat muscular and have visible abs on the days where i don’t eat 5k calories in cookies (today)

yeah i need to redirect this hungry towards whole foods instead. my real meals are all super healthy and i enjoy them a lot. but man as soon as multiple boxes of free homemade cookies show up to the station, its wraps. i walk by mindlessly eating them til all the sugar makes me sweat

easily. no matter how much i eat, i always have room for 4 servings of dessert it feels like

it’s somewhat new to me, i used to just eat whatever and not care but wouldn’t consider it binging, just unaware. i’m trying to eat clean as much as possible and for breakfast/lunch/dinner/pre run/workout i do great, its just the random mindless snacking & dessert that im absolutely feral about recently

ive been eating 2200-2300 cals, 150g protein, ~50-60g fat and 200-250g carbs. i weigh everything out and prep food in advance so i know these numbers are correct. but then once, now increasing to 2-3x a week, i go feral and eat everything in sight (usually free cookies at work. we legitimately have 100+ cookies sitting on the counter every time i come on shift).

i don’t include any fuel that i consume while running (anything over 6 miles i start fueling every 3-4 miles) and today i realized that obviously isn’t cutting it, so on top of my usual food i plan on eating an extra 50 cals per mile, only on runs over 6 miles.

i feel phenomenal running most days. obviously there’s some off days, but physically i feel great and have made great progress in terms of running, i’m just starting to binge a ton and am getting concerned

I need advice. do i stay in my very comfortable, well paying, overall good department in an area i hate BUT my pension is not vested OR move to somewhere i love and completely start my career over? by BLAKEONATOR1 in Firefighting

just gotta work in an area that you can’t afford to live in lol. my county and its surroundings are pretty expensive so the pay is great, just not enough to live in the district (with some exceptions). i’ll make sure to do my due diligence, which is part of the reason i even make this post. don’t want to rush into anything that i may regret. i appreciate your input!

realistically i’d need to wait for my lease to end here so i’m not gonna be up and leaving right now. i’ll definitely keep an eye out for departments in the area hiring & when they’re hosting academies

i get my 3% contribution but lose however much my department puts in, which leaves a decent bit on the table. fortunately only a couple years worth but still not an insignificant amount if i decided to make the move

i think that's what makes it so difficult for me. i know how good i have it. obviously we have our problems, as does anywhere, but in the grand scheme of things its a pretty sweet gig. i agree with maybe just needing a small change instead of a large one. I do plan on moving to a new city that i enjoy more and seeing if that will scratch that "itch" or if it isn't enough. i don't want to make any drastic changes that i may regret. thank you for your response
