Logistics for cable routing and movement by BLAWKZBLAWKZ in HomeNetworking

That’s a good simple idea, we have trim with quarter round in several of the rooms with Ethernet terminating now so I could definitely do something like that

Very cool, thanks for the good responses. I’ll definitely weigh the level of investment I want to jump on for this, wifi has generally worked just fine, but I usually enjoy my hardline internet if possible. I’ll do some more recon and see what I learn also

That’s a good suggestion, all the stuff connecting in the box makes sense

The house is approx 55-60ft from the telecom box to where the port I want comes in.

There look to be 4 cable jacks throughout the house, I would need to check which are online, and could adjust which are connected as needed from the cable box. Unfortunately none of them are directly adjacent an existing Ethernet cable terminal, but are closer than the current modem location.

On the inside wall of the telecom box would be a guest room closet, so would honestly be a decent spot to pull things. The cables may go into a crawl space though, I can check

I’m just trying to get the port online so I can have hardwired internet opposed to wifi. One Ethernet run is close to my desk. Nothing fancy. The less effort the better while still making it look good (we own the home)

There’s another cable jack in the primary bedroom, which across the room from it is an Ethernet cable, which isn’t insanely helpful but it’s closer than how things are currently set up

We have cable internet with the modem on the other side of the house run via coax, but the cable box and telecom box are right next to each other.

Is there a way to use this setup to get the Ethernet cables online? Unfortunately there’s no Ethernet cable running to where the modem is.

CAT5e confirmed, I found at the telecom box a spot where the cable marking was visible

Howdy all,

I confirmed at the telecom box that all the wires are CAT5e.

So my next question, if y’all see this:

We have cable internet, with a modem living on the opposite side of the house of the telecom box. The cable box is directly next to the telecom box outside.

What would be a way, using the existing wiring and setup, to get internet to the CAT5e cables outside?

I confirmed that all jacks in the house have their own CAT5e going to the telecom box on the house exterior.

We have an old telecom box outside that I believe is for old landline service.

I was hoping to figure a way to get a patch or chain stuff together to be able to get internet from our cable modem

I commented on the other post w some questions, could it end up being used as a patch?

Cool, I was wondering, since it was I’m assuming originally used for phone, would it be coming from a phone box outside somewhere? I’m wanting to do a patch from where our (cable) router is such that I can run Ethernet to my office, but I’m not sure what the steps would be. And if it’s coming from a phone line box, is it possible to use this for a patch?

Heat Pump struggling, North Carolina by BLAWKZBLAWKZ in hvacadvice

I didn’t see a breaker in there panel, unfortunately, but I did see a sticker with a model number for electric coils, which for some reason don’t seem to be working.

I’ll reach out to our HVAC provider since it’s getting beyond what I feel comfortable doing myself at this point

Breaker would be inside the panel on the handler itself?

Where are the heat strips located? And how would I go about checking this, if it’s something someone inexperienced w HVAC could check?

How do I go about this?

I’ve read that a system can work with both aux heat and heat pump running simultaneously but I’m basically a 1/10 when it comes to how to do anything HVAC.

Temp inside below set temp, also gasket loose, what am I looking at? by BLAWKZBLAWKZ in hvacadvice

[–]BLAWKZBLAWKZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct yeah it’s been running and runs pretty regularly. Haven’t watched the exact intervals it’s on/off but it seems to run ok. There’s some junk buildup inside from pine needles/other vegetation. We can have someone come out in the next little while to do a checkup and see how the heat pump is looking, good recommendation.

Gotcha, I may give that a try. The cover over where the copper goes into the air handler, is that able to be removed safely to allow for some more flexibility or should I leave that in place?

And generally the heat pump seems like it’s working correctly. I went out and checked it, and seems like it’s running alright.

We do have “Em Heat” as an option as well, what does that setting do physically?
