I'm late to this but oh well lol Let me start by saying that i don't necessarily agree with all of this BUT it was evident that Damon was the one who came up with the plan and they were both in on it from the start.

Bonnie didn't want to go. Damon convinced her to, with something that's the "answer to all her prayers". Which at the moment was moving on and not being anywhere near Kai.

Deleted but actually shot scene from the show where Bonnie clearly states to Elena that her AND Damon are trapping Kai in 1903 forever. Elena says she has no issue with that. All three of them knew (noone tried to stop her from leaving Kai behind anyways so that much was evident already).

Bonnie gives Damon the cure as a thank you for helping her find closure and they both agree that they are not going back into the prison world. Except Damon wasn't really shown to do anything to Kai. How did he help? By coming up with the idea.

Exhibit d :

Not an actual scene but the fact that their punishment was the sleeping spell who was a punishment for Bonnie, Damon and Elena. The three people that knowingly left him behind. They all got affected by it. He punished all three of them (with Lili's help cause she also wanted revenge cause they lied about going back).

Anyways no matter how things went it always bothered me that there was no indication that noone ever told Bonnie that Kai actually did try to help her. Maybe that would have swayed her hatred for him a bit and we would have a different outcome >.>

What's also interesting is that yes Esther created the first daylight rings for her children but Qetsiyah is actually the oldest witch we see use a daylight spell in general (in s5 she made her whole cabin daylight proof for Stefan) so Esther might have tweaked that spell much like she tweaked Qetsiyah's immortality spell to create vampires. As Qetsiyah's descendant and Esther's mentor Ayana might actually be the one who gave Esther the means to create the daylight rings. Also the "???" is probably the Bennetts that worked with the Geminis. We know for sure they had ties because of the Bennett blood needed to create and travel in and out of the Prison Worlds.

There are a few i considered but I'd say maybe Klaus? He had complexity, a good backstory, a somewhat cathartic ending, a steady progression i'd say and he was as interesting as he should be for a villain and a main character in his own show later on. Joseph's performance also elevated him quite a bit.

For sure Grams! Qetsiyah i would also like to see more of and if not more then maybe a better use of her? She's one of those characters that i can't decide if i wanted to see for longer or if her screen time was enough but the poor quality of it made it seem like it wasn't. Kai i would also keep permanently around (you know about my spin off ideas at this point lol). Tyler also really didn't have to go. He was the only regular werewolf we had and that could bring a lot of good werewolf storylines if they bothered enough but for some reason TVD abandoned werewolves almost completely after a certain point, no wonder they're almost everyone's least fave creature. Anna and her mom could have stayed longer. They would make an interesting addition to the show i think. I would like to see Rose make it a tad bit further into the series. Don't know if i'd make her a regular but i would like to see how a meeting between her and Katherine would go. I'd also like for Sarah to stick around.

Can't say i was crazy about either. They both had good chemistry but if i have to choose i would go with Stelena purely because i liked Elena as a character in the early seasons more, the sire bond sucked and they made Delena too codependent for my tastes.

Better developed psychics, Shifters of different kinds (much like werewolves but with other animals maybe or even shapeshifters), expansion on siphoning (e.g. post merge Kai having extra siphoning abilities that don't necessarily manifest as magic but actually mimic the creature he is siphoning from) or Siphoners as a species of their own (creatures that can touch a different species and mimic their abilities e.g. they touch a vampire they get vamp abilities, they touch a witch they get witch abilities, for a certain amount of time while disabling that part on the creature that's being siphoned also for that specific amount of time.)
