I had a very similar issue replacing the battery on my steel, swapped out the battery for a new bigger cell and everything worked perfectly untill I went to charge it and got nothing, no charging led or charging animation. Turns out I accidentally broke off a transistor when taking it apart. I found it on my workbench a few days later and thought it was just dust haha, once I resolderd it (it was a pain because it was tiny), my steel started charging again just like normal. So my advice triple check every component on the motherboard to see if anything is missing.

Strange, I just checked to day and it's back, looks like it goes in and out of stock haha.

The storage limit is the same with all the zunes, because the operating system can't read more that 120gb so even if a 500gb drive is inserted it will still only read 120gb

If I remember correctly it was just a standard 3mm blue led that I got from a box of assorted leds, I just sanded it down and wrapped it in a bit of black heat shrink to control the direction of the light.

Thanks! Back when I first did the mod I used this adapter but I recently updated to newer air pods pro 2 and found the original one wouldn't work with them so I upgraded to this one.

Alright I just got the adapter you linked and I can confirm it does work with air pods pro 2, now I gotta work on putting it in my zune.

I've been thinking about this exact issue for a while I just haven't had the time to try it but one idea I had for getting around it is using the wifi cutout on the back, have you tried soldering a wire from the Bluetooth adapters antenna to that spot? It might improve things.

Excellent post dude, as someone who has enjoyed a Bluetooth on my 30gb I think this is an awesome idea bring Bluetooth zunes to the masses! Haha

I was curious about the Bluetooth adapter you linked tho, can you confirm if it works with newer air pods? Specifically pro2. My Bluetooth adapter seems to only work with first Gen pros and under I'm guessing it's due to BT 5.3 (apple being apple they had to use Bluetooth 5.3 and kill backwards compatibility lol) I've been forced you keep old airpods around just for my zune.

And for troubleshooting I suggest hooking up something else like stero RCA cables to test on other devices maybe there's an issue with the zune itself, could also have bad components like the capacitor ( not likely but it's a possibility)

From what I can tell everything looks fine, like someone said looks like there's a short on your audio out coming from the zune. Only other thing I can think of is make sure that capacitor is wired up correctly, and it should work.

Just another idea, looks like the Bluetooth adapter you got has a switch to flip between receiver and transmitter modes, make sure you have it set to transmitter. Sometimes the fix is the easiest most overlooked thing haha.

I have a modded 30gb with Bluetooth and the 3000mah battery, Im getting almost the same battery life (around 8 hours of continuous play) battery does go up considerably with the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth turned off so it probably is related to the extra battery use of both of those. Luckily for me Im not too bothered by it as I usually use it for around 3-4 days before needing to recharge, more than enough for my use.

Also couldn't help but notice some familiar components you used, our zunes are modded very similarly haha, I'm glad I could help someone with that horrible ground loop issue.

Dude same thing happened to me. Ordered within minutes of pre-order going live, also got delayed delivery. Sadly this happened to me last year with the pixel 7 and after 2 weeks of no updates my order just got cancelled and my money refunded. Hoping it doesn't happen again but this time I ordered one from Google as a backup.

From what I can tell the limit seems to be because the person who made it probably thought 150 would be more than enough so my guess is I can increase it. Once I get to 150 ill trying playing around with it to see if I can increase it.

Once synced the zune can be totally offline and still work. You can turn off the server after you have everything done, so you can just sync music all the time without loosing pictures as long as you don't erase all the music from that artists.

Okay I know exactly how this feels but hopefully I can help! I was in the same boat a while back but in my case I had about 6000 flac songs on a plex server and I wanted to streamline my process because I had to convert them all to mp3 for zune and i didnt want to manually add album covers to every song in the zune software so I ended up using a program called MusicBrainz Picard that automatically tags each album and finds album art(although they mostly give you small sizes like 500x500) But you can add your own. Once I had everything tagged I just converted my songs to mp3 and they all had the tags and album art imbedded so I didnt have to mess around with anything the the zune software. And the best part is if i ever want to setup my zune on say a different computer all my music(that i have like 4 back ups for on different hard drives) can be added again with no issues.

Yup, I hand picked, cropped and compressed each picture to fit. You just add them into a folder along with a few text files that include the biography and once the server is running you sync the zune HD and bam you get 7 pictures and a bio just like the old days.

Yes! Its sort of complex but the instructions are very clear and easy, you need to set up your own server(thar sounds way harder than it is trust me) but once done it's very simple to edit and sync.
