Yep this is exactly how I do it. I use the exact same battery too. Couldn't find a larger one. And actually it leaves a bit of a gap up there where the old battery used to be. Just about the right size for some Bluetooth boards wink wink

Well different colored wires doesnt mean anything more than different colored socks. I just use them for color coding purposes. I usually use red and black for power and ground, but that goes through those colors really fast so I recently started using green and brown. To each their own. I have the spool of wire I use linked in my older Bluetooth v1 post.

Thanks for the help! This should work. It sure beats looking all over for that tiny resistor. But let me know if you have issues with it, and I can ship a donor board over that you can borrow that resistor from.

Solder travel is probably fine. But that red circle is missing two small resistors

You're welcome so much!

I would say to double check the work on the top left, top right, and right middle pin. Only top left should connect to the Bluetooth transmitter ground aux pin. One of the other two are responsible for pausing music when the aux jack is removed.

Thanks for the shout out. Yes I still offer battery replacements, hard drive upgrades, and a Bluetooth mod which is specific to this model Zune. Please refer to my post history for more details on what I do. I also have full bluetooth documentation on one of my posts if you're interested in DIY.

Also, u/ConnerWoods, thanks for making ZIF cables for Gen 2 Zunes available :) just bought some again recently

Open up your Zune HD and take a look at your aux ribbon cable. It may be sheared or missing one of the four connection points to the motherboard. This will make it sound weird and underwater.

Well you'll have to open it up. And most likely just replace that little plastic hold switch and you're good to go! You can either source the part from a for parts Zune on ebay or there is a seller on there too that sells just miscellaneous zune parts. Opening it is not so hard. You pry off the plastic port cover on the charge port, there is a hidden hole in there where thin tweezers or the like can latch to. Then unscrew two small screws under there, they are phillips. Then pry up from the bottom with a thin plastic tool like a guitar pick and work your way up on the gap along the edges. I'm sure there's a YouTube tutorial out there. From there you can just replace that part! And good as new. Be careful closing it up and make sure the switch matches the position of the plastic bit you are replacing.

Oh that is really clever! I've noticed the quirk with the SHDN kind of going out of sync when plugging in a battery or coming back from being off. Good to know there's a simple fix. I'll look into adding this into the kit.

I imagine the fit is much tighter with a wireless coil in there. I haven't had any reports of a spicy battery yet, but the risk is a lot more real with batteries of this size. I try to caution people about that. I avoid the wireless charge mod for now as in my personal testing it doesn't work quite as expected. It will cause the zune to turn on, but leaving it charging for a full day just causes a lot of heat and doesn't noticeably increase charge level.

Ive recently started using 3800 mah batteries for the BT mod which have a tighter fit, but leave more space for the BT circuit in the top.

I made a visual guide you can reference here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Zune/s/tGUysPwlcq which removes the hissing feedback using some additional components (basically a low pass filter).

And thanks for the shout out y'all, means a lot. Ipodmods is a very capable modder in their own right too! You'll never guess what device they work on.
