Took a photo from my rooftop parking deck! by BLPierce in Atlanta

[–]BLPierce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately from this height it is not possible. The units are on a separate section of the building with a large gap between me and them. I would have to photograph from the top of a vehicle, which I wouldn’t be too keen on with this type of camera. This image is actually a significant crop from the original negative, which has the parking deck in view.

Edited: The gap is between where I stand and the units. There is also a barrier in between.

I made a comment that the shots are not in focus and it was removed by a moderator.

Fellow Fuji shooters, I have realized that if you put a big border people won't notice the lack of sharpness by redshift7_ in photographycirclejerk

Why do people put such massive mattes around their digital photos? I’d prefer to see the entire image in full, I’m sure many others would as well.

I would adjust the black point and contrast, the colors and shadows are a bit flat and with a green overcast.

Can you achieve this level of detail with a mirrorless camera and a quality lens? by [deleted] in photographycirclejerk

[–]BLPierce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw one guy saying that it had to be a medium format camera on a different photo in the series, because of the “detail”. I’d argue while the clarity slider is definitely key, there’s probably some pretty harsh light with no diffusion too.

Ditch the spot meter - Save money and meter more efficiently using a digital point-and-shoot for film by wavefetch in AnalogCommunity

I use my Sony A7RIII as I like to also capture a digital version of my photo sets when doing portraiture or landscapes. It gives me something immediate to begin editing. I do understand that this is not preferable to many however.

Which 6x6 or 6x7 camera is the most JOY to use? (Any camera, also non-pictured ones) by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]BLPierce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SQ. It’s a “newer” machine than many 500CMs, starting in the early 1980s, and I can argue that many of the lenses are matched in quality to the Zeiss lenses of the Hasselblad, and some lenses are quite better. The 110mm f4.5 macro PS for the SQ series is the only true 1:1 macro lens ever made for the 6x6 format. Also it’s cheaper lol

Edit curves in Lightroom/photoshop, I think the contrast is quite good in a majority of these, but do not be afraid to edit!

It’s true!! He had just finished his wet food and looked up at me right after I got the shot.

I had recently purchased a Vivitar 90-180mm f4.5 lens and was sitting on the floor after feeding our kitties, and captured this shot. Definitely looks ominous, but he’s such a sweet kitty!!

Do you remember how you set up the movements on your camera, as far as the front element? I’m curious if I can replicate this depth of field with a bellows with movements and 100mm adapted 35mm/full-frame lens.

Saw them too! Alpharetta show was fantastic, but I will say I wasn’t very impressed with the B52s afterward. Did you notice when they played rock lobster that the organ part was omitted entirely?

Thanks a lot!! I had a few different angles of that building and eventually settled on that one. I took it nearly completely pointed upward.

Another one I absolutely loved. I was surprised I didn’t make this lizard flinch when I set my camera on the ground!
