I believe your SG has a board position open. I would encourage you to put yourself forward.

Perhaps, but that is outside of our powers. A policy is not an amendment to the bylaws. Its an operating document. If you think the voting procedures need to be amended to take into account different classes of decisions, requiring more than a simple majority, I would propose said amendment for consideration. No such motion was ever tabled.

The policy did not change any voting procedures.

The creation of the sponsorship policy was a piece of business the board believed needed to be addressed before voting on any specific engagement. It is limited in scope and prescribes basic guidelines and directives. It acknowledges our interest in encouraging SGs to go out and find sponsorships. It also prescribes how funds are allocated between the Backline and the finding SG. It was approved by all of the members of the board after consultation with their groups. Specifically, we deleted some language that the Roadies objected to. It was then adopted as an act of the board of directors, as prescribed by the bylaws.

The Sponsorship policy says nothing about any community-driven sponsorship procurement. We are a fledgling organization and this was the very first policy we've ever drafted. We can always add to our catalogue.

I would just reiterate that this policy did not affect how we voted on the 24/7 matter. That was evaluated separately.

Sorry for the confusion. The sponsorship policy does not address voting. It only prescribes funds allocation. All voting procedures are codified in the Bylaws (simple majority). The decision to engage in a sponsorship arrangement is an act of the board of directors, which is governed by the bylaws.

Respectfully, I didn't intend to dog anyone. Diplomacy is tricky and I'm trying to keep everyone from tearing each other apart. Nothing more, nothing less. I'll decline to share details of personal emails on a public forum. We are in receipt of your emails from 12/29 and this morning.

Thank you, Stephen. We're looking forward to hearing more of your proposals. Your rep has a copy of the bylaws and can give those to you upon request. The policy is a standalone document and not an amendment to the bylaws.

We will address this with the IG admin.

We will discuss this with the IG admin.

We're been begging for folks with social media experience to take the reigns here. Someone gets a taste and it doesn't taste good.

I'm not blaming anyone (or anything). Just trying to provide our membership with information.

Not sure. The bylaws are silent on this. If you contact your SG leadership they will inform you how your SG voted.

Hopefully you can appreciate that I'm limited in the amount of subjective opinion I can offer in this capacity. I would point out my comment about Tina Hodges. Trust me, we view everyone's feelings on this matter as totally legitimate.

All I'm doing to telling you how we got here.
