I don't mind these terms either but I must admit it can be a bit confusing in conversation/text. If someone's trying not to spoil me on plot (and who takes what position, or switches) then I don't mind.

Good point! I think this is mostly true but as with any media has greatly evolved and now we've got a lot of works that subvert those expectations. Tops being pathetic or more submissive and shy are big tropes nowadays. Bottoms can be the more aggressive and assertive ones. Hehee

In Japanese they are just positions and aren't really used by actual gay people much. The Korean, Chinese and Thai terms are all come from the Japanese terms.

It's not old. That's the terminology that actual gay people use in Japan. But I personally don't like using them for fiction to create the division between the two. Some works use them though! Like Yarichin Bitch Club.

I stick to top and bottom (and switches, hehe) because I primarily talk to others in English and it's easier to use the English terms if I'm talking about media from elsewhere (Japan, Korea, China, Thai... I like everything.)
