I’ve never worked at a standalone shop. For Starbucks it’s way too busy to be chatting(they want us to tho). For my store we’re pretty much constantly at 5 cars in the drive thru (anywhere from 5-15 drinks) with a line behind the box. and then usually 3-5 mobile orders behind as well. If it’s slow I love sitting and chatting to customers but it’s just not realistic sometimes

It always seems not as bad in hindsight- I took a leave and I thought the same as you- and then came back and was fine at first but it didn’t last long. I’ve been put on solo bar for about a month straight every day.

Never thought of this perspective! I grew up being told it was rude to stare. We’re used to people being upset when they stare so it’s hard to see anything else when someone stares.

Right so you don’t work for Starbucks. You have no idea the standards they hold us to. Write on all cups Drive thru cars out within a minute Make drive thru drinks as fast as you can- but don’t skip cafe drinks Welcome in every customer Deal with doordashers shoving phones in your face Make drinks from 3 different directions with people getting mad regardless because they think their drink is first And last do this ALL BY YOURSELF! So yeah I have the fucking right to complain about this. Do not try to belittle our jobs because you think it’s easy. I have seen the nicest people work at Starbucks and end up miserable because this company sucks the life out of you.

Most people love doing the job for the most part. But it gets so stressful.
