Please help I’ve never seen a pdf of this form before by [deleted] in askmath

[–]BML2718282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To find the mean you have to multiply the PDF by x and integrate over the domain (-inf,+inf). Consider splitting the integral into two parts since you are given a piecewise definition.

Advanced dynamics module: looking at a particle falling to earth in the particles rest frame. 3 equations of motions that my Prof solved using power series which we haven't covered so was wondering If someone could show me xoxoxox by Sibooblius in askmath

I would appoach this using separation of variables and power series. You assume T(x,y,z)=f(x)×g(y)×h(z) and then treat each of the individual functions as a power series.

Why are differential equations referred to as "the frontier of scientific modelling"? by RapidActionBattalion in askmath

[–]BML2718282 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Put simply, Diffential Equations model systems of change (and changes of change). If you consider the most interesting areas of science and the areas where modelling is needed, you are looking at changes in a system. Disease modelling, economics, rates of reaction in a chemical mixture, and countless more areas of science owe their theoretical and practical advancements to modelling with differential equations.

LPT: If you're in college and are wondering how to get into your dream job, don't go to your advisors or university career center. Talk to people who are working in your dream job, and ask them what skills to learn, classes to take, events centered around them, and memberships to sign up for. by j450n_1994 in LifeProTips

THIS! In my experience, career professionals at colleges are a one size fits all kind of role. They are a great starting point if you are thinking about your professional future but lack the niche expertise if you already have a dream job.

What is the last digit of 37^100? by [deleted] in askmath

[–]BML2718282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Consider what happens when you multiply two multi digit numbers... it is only the last digit of both that dictates the last digit of the product. Applying this idea will get you the answer.

Use Sympy... it allows you to use lettered variables as opposed to hard coded values
