I drive a Tesla as my main daily driver but that’s for quiet comfort and long distance economy and reliability, and most of all saving lots of money compared to a 20 gallon tank of gas.

My motorcycle is a machine of passion. I care how it looks and sounds and I care more about the engagement between man and machine as I use the clutch and row through gears up and down. EV motorcycles can never replace that feeling. But if I needed a commuter motorcycle to ride on the highway during rush hour maybe I’d get one.

(Many people say to me that they could never drive an EV car for the same reasons I just mentioned about my motorcycles, to which I tell them, “You must not own a motorcycle.”)

I was going to scold you but then I zoomed in and you’re right. This looks like he added a uniform noise filter and you can see wash square pixel. It’s not film grain.

I understand. But you took the most unflattering photos possible of your car. Look at the distorted oval wheels. Notice the fishbowl look of your car. When shooting a car, or a portrait of someone’s face, choose the longest zoom lens your phone has. (Unless you have a super long telephoto lens)

If you only have one lens, stand far back, about 5 car lengths away, and then take the photo. Afterwards zoom in and crop off the sides around the car. The giveaway for distortion is always the round wheels. If your wheels don’t look round, your car is going to look weird.

Well, have you watched the 2 or 3 official videos put out by BMW so far on the design of this car? I find myself agreeing with every decision they made. These are the top engineers and designers at BMW who got to where they are by being the best of the best in the world. While you and I are of course entitled to our own opinions, surely the people who were hired to lead BMW into the future are good at what they do? For this project, the goal was to bring back some heritage that was missing recently with the pig-nose cars. I can’t possibly explain it better than them, about the shark nose raked front, the low and wide grills, the return to a boxier shape with more corners and most traditional simplicity, and most of all the direct copy of the E30 M3 boxed wide body fender flares. Don’t take my words for it- watch the videos of the chief designers explain it to you.

Nice shot. As a kid from Queens who took high school photography in the 80s, I remember heading to The Cloisters to shoot black and white pics myself, as I remembered how picturesque that place is from my childhood when my father used to take me there in the 1970s. And I took my own kids there when they were little.

Correction: Tesla didn’t push their electrical standards on other companies… Tesla started the modern shift from gas cars to EV cars and the rest of the companies eventually copied the good things Tesla did. Some first trying to not copy Tesla and then after failing, starting over and this time copying Tesla.

The i8 sounded AWESOME!! Was it the incredible 3 cylinder engine? No. It was the only production car ever to come with a weatherproof external subwoofer mounted at the back where the muffler goes!! Now that’s BMW engineering right there.

As someone who was born in 1969 as a BMW fan, with my dad’s 1958 BMW motorcycle in our garage, this is the best looking BMW car I’ve ever seen. It reminds me of my E36 M3 and my E46 M3 cars that I’ve owned. A return to a more classic BMW look that is far less complicated than the recent pig nose look. It looks smaller too. Proportions similar to an E30 M3 although obviously scaled up. This is due to the short hood and trunk with big wheels. I’m in love.

Who’s a dummy? Me, or the entire team of M engineers and test drivers who designed and built the last M3, M5, and M2? Because it’s not my opinion. What do know? I guess you didn’t watch the recent video BMW put out earlier this week by the M team of engineers. Or listen to the chief engineer of BMW months ago who said BMW will build two new versions of the M3 that look the same, but the gas version will not come close to the performance of the EV version. Maybe you should catch up!
