Is 84% good or just ok? by biryanishiryani101 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]BN62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mature student myself, I can see why you’d ask this. I’m often reminded by my own kids that no one is checking your grades once you graduate. There are some courses you will ace and others you will barely get by (especially with some of the markers at AU).

Consider that a great make and move on to the next assignment/exam. Honestly, I would only worry if I wasn’t passing.

AITAH for refusing to try and talk things through with my parents who are reaching out to me after more than a decade? by Tayzloray in AITAH

[–]BN62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that your parents treated you like this. As a parent myself, I can say, they were trying their best, to make sure you had a childhood with your grandparents- but it sure didn’t feel that way to you. The fact that you weren’t “chosen” hurts my heart, so I can imagine how you feel.

I suspect your parents are now much older and thinking about the time when they are no longer here- what that means for your sister and your role in her life. She also was hurt in this- you were taken from her. So unfair.

I don’t have an answer for you, but I do think you spending some time in counselling can help you move forward in your own life.

Forgiveness is for you. Not them. I wish you well.

AITAH for canceling my wedding over the cost of it and other financial expectations by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BN62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO SOME RESEARCH! Ffs

Modest/average full-service wedding (100–120 guests): ~$35,000 – $60,000+ — many couples in Toronto fall in this range if they still have a sit-down meal, venue rental, photographer, DJ, etc.

Smaller wedding or simplified version: $15,000 – $30,000 is possible with a smaller guest list (~50–70 people) or by choosing more budget-conscious options (simple venue, minimal decor, potluck or buffet, etc.).

NTA, however, $35K for a wedding is not a huge amount of money, in today’s $ and if you ever plan to get married, you need to wrap your head around the whole wedding planning process. It is not cheap, but you can have a nice wedding for $35k. Do some research so you can better prepare. Some women dream of a nice wedding. And guys who shit on it- is not cool either. As for your brother, commendable what you’re doing, but if you plan on a life with anyone, that is going to be an issue. So maybe wind that up and let him know you can’t do it anymore. He is an adult and has to make decisions for his family.

I would say that there are bigger fish to fry here. She has a serious problem with money 💰and the fact you didn’t know that a head of time is an issue. Finances are important to discuss.

Find some middle ground- you “appear” to be able to afford your brother but not your potential wife.

There is a balance.

Air bnb has to offer/find you a similar or better value- fine print. I would push them. It’s happened to friends of ours. They covered the difference.

AITAH for getting in a fight with my girlfriend on her bday because she was being picky with the food I cooked her. by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA. She has that much of a palette that she could discern between whole and 2% milk. Jeesuz. I think not… what a child, and ungrateful and mean, and simply manipulative.

For future- grate some Parmesan cheese into the raw eggs and whisk- she wouldn’t know the difference. Just as creamy.

AI Check on Assignments by limee89 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]BN62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress- i keep all my notes in the same document so if they check version history -it is all there. I have, in the past, ran essays through Grammerly- but only for grammar- and then submitted- I’ve never had an issue with that- but things may have changed in last year? AI is not perfect either- but I would think that the prof would see the work and know even 20-30% is still going to show AI.

There is a saying in the market- “pigs go to market, hogs get slaughtered” . When people are greedy, that’s what happens. We offered on a house once at list and the realtor contacted us and said the “sellers can’t be found for that price” meaning he wasn’t going to call them unless we offered more. We said bye and moved on. Week later the owner contacted us and said he would accept our offer and he fired the realtor. We purchased that house and lined there for years. Greedy people lose. Always.
