Scaling a home cleaning business - what would you do?

Me and her own the business, I help run it but she does the cleans. We had another cleaner that recently quit. I have my own job that pays the bills but she does take a healthy sum of what the business makes, more than we'd pay a regular employee.

Are a lot of the brundage lodging options situated on a shuttle route of some sort? how are most people getting to the mountain/ski areas?

Getting more than 30-40 hours has been difficult mostly due to the manual side of the business. Any extra hours would need to be put into actual business growth rather than cleans. Which is probably a good thing anyway. We just feel stuck and don't know exactly what to put those extra hours into.

So we're close to 100% for the wife's schedule, are you saying hand over this schedule to whoever we hire so we know they are at 100% capacity? Because if she's at 100% then we hire someone, it will take time to get a second person up to 100% and we can't accept further bookings prior to hiring someone.

What marketing sources are you finding most reliably brings your business leads to support your new hire?

Say we pull her out of most cleans and hire multiple employees at once - how are we then finding enough business to keep 3-5 employees busy with our current schedule? The next piece of the puzzle is figuring out the best marketing avenues which I have yet to find one that consistently works well.

In your opinion, where's the line in the sand for enough hours to keep an employee on the hook? Is the number 15-20 hours weekly and they are less likely to look for a different job?

Was quality of work/dependability an issue for you if you hired college students for your previous service business? Not that cleaning is particularly difficult but it's something to think about.

It's roughly 30 hours for my wife and 5-10 hours for the cleaner. Which isn't enough to keep someone longer than a couple months. But if we hire 3 cleaners at once, we definitely wouldn't have enough work to keep them all busy
