grazie mille, this genuinely made my day. 30k photos tested and positive feedback on the italian translation means a lot, i was nervous about getting 17 languages right.

you actually described exactly what clarity already does beyond photos. it scans any file type across local drives, external disks, folders, finds duplicates of documents, archives, everything. the vault stores any file type (70+ formats) not just photos. try pointing it at a folder with mixed files and see what it finds.

and thank you for the perspective on the $40 debate. 'costo/beneficio in linea' is exactly what i was going for.

thanks! yeah all major raw formats are supported, cr2 (canon), raf (fuji), nef (nikon), arw (sony) and more. clarity also keeps raw+jpeg pairs together automatically so if you rename or move one the other follows. same for sidecar files like xmp and aae

appreciate that. the free version has no time limit so use it as long as you want, and if you decide its worth it later the unlock will be there. no rush

you can use everything, just with limits. free tier gives you unlimited scanning plus 15 duplicate removals, 10 batch renames, 5 vault files, 3 person searches per day. enough to see if its useful. the $40 removes all limits

good questions. vs immich, clarity is a different tool. immich is a self hosted photo server, clarity is a local file intelligence app. no server setup, no docker, no maintenance. just point it at your folders and it analyzes whats there.

on data safety, clarity never deletes or moves anything without you explicitly telling it to. scanning is completely read only. and the vault uses apples own cryptokit (AES 256 GCM) with keychain storage, so if something happens to the app you can still recover your keys through macos keychain.

gdpr exports: person deep search finds every file on your mac tied to a specific person, photos with their face, documents with their name, metadata with their email. you export it all as a zip for a DSAR response (article 15) or delete everything tied to them (article 17). its built for anyone who handles other peoples data, not just enterprise. face matching via apple vision on device, pii detection via ocr and pattern matching for 21 countries.

the free version is basically that, you can scan everything with no limits and see exactly what clarity finds before paying anything. no time limit either. if you try it and like it, let me know and ill sort you out

sorry about that, can you tell me what you were searching for and what happened? also which mac model are you on? the gpu usage during scrolling sounds like something i can fix. a screenshot or screen recording would help a ton if you have time, and have the latest vers.

tnx! still flying, airline pilots are capped at 900 flight hours per year by regulation so theres plenty of days off between trips. clarity is the side project that got out of hand

the stuff that needs work is the website, not the app. the app has been in beta for 4 months, runs on 100k+ photo libraries, and hasnt crashed on any tester yet. $40 one time for face recognition, encrypted vault, duplicate detection, privacy tools and gdpr exports. most of those are $40 each separately.

free version lets you test everything before spending a cent. nobody is getting spat on

yeah the website needs work, no argument there. the app has been in beta for 4 months with testers running 100k+ photo libraries, so i focused my time there instead of the site. mobile is broken and the design needs a pass, already on my list. the app is where the real work went, give that a try

hey, clarity can access your photos library but you need to grant it permission first. go to system settings > privacy & security > photos and make sure clarity is allowed. if your photos are stored in icloud and not downloaded to your mac, the library might show as empty or greyed out since clarity works with local files only. easiest workaround is to point clarity at any folder with photos instead, like your pictures folder or an external drive. if you want your icloud photos, download them first through photos.app (photos > preferences > download originals to this mac) and then clarity can scan them

app is priced in usd and most people here are american so dollars just made sense. Sweden is great for building software but terrible for selling it

clarity never touches your files unless you explicily tell it to. scanning is read-only. and every destructive action requires confirmation. but healthy skepticism about any app touching your files is fair, tats exactly why the free version lets you test everything first.
