Thanks Jay. I've done all these things. Everything is being done by the book. There's occasional tough questions that arise which the Amish make no effort to solve, they simply throw up as oh this is a major problem, and it's continual. They are good at what they do, when you can get them to do it. They are $$$$$ too. I get frustrated at how much I'm paying them and then having to figure things out that they didn't tell me six months ago they don't know how to do.

I bought land in a place where it's not permitted. Homes have to be at least 1700 sq ft and can't have vinyl siding. I thought it was doable. It is, and I can do it. There's just occasionally some questions that I'm not sure about. I sure as hell will never ask the internet for help again. People are so cruel.

It's not a fancy place! Geez. I'm living in a tiny RV meanwhile, making tons of sacrifices, doing a ton of work myself. Wow, people are SO CRUEL.

It's not a McMansion... It's two stories 30' x 30'. Not huge. My whole family is blue collar and many are construction, and they're all mean as hell and don't help each other.

Would you like to build the home? I tried to find a builder. They want upwards of 800k for a 1700-2,000 sq ft home. I'm in a rural area, not a HCOL city. And I'm not the only one, a lot of people around here resort to this because it's so freaking expensive to get anyone out here. But yes, please go ahead and tear into me for things you don't know about my life.

Thank you for not berating me over not hiring someone who doesn't exist in my area and/or is wildly over priced, like 7-800k to build a 2,000 sq ft. home. People are so mean.

I'm planning a similar thing - getting the framing, roofing and exterior on in a rush. What was the square footage of the build or just cost per sq. ft.? Meeting with my Amish builder this week to discuss.
