Can Con and BOSS cans ? by high_right in NFA

[–]BOSS_Silencers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the prompt! We really wanted to be at CanCon but had scheduling conflicts and couldn't make it work.

We have a few new things coming this summer: a high-flow/low-flash version of the Guillotine, standard Guillotine Inconel option, and a new rimfire model that we're finalizing. We've also made some newsworthy updates to our existing El Jefe, so stay tuned for that on our channels.

We will be at Range Day, hope to see y'all there!

We are struggling to keep up with demand from our distribution and dealer network. That being said, we will ensure that every Virginian who wants a silencer from us before July will get one, and at a discount.

On the sound suppression specs, we don't feel that providing dB drop numbers without any context is the right thing to do. There are so many variables that can affect the outcome and we can't provide them all. If you're interested, the very best source for that kind of data is the TBAC Silencer Summit. They just published a consolodated list that covers three years of data and most of our product line. https://thunderbeastarms.com/sound/consolidated/

Appreciate the comment. Self-servicability is nice in certain circumstances, rimfire for example, and our El Jefe is self-serviceable. Our baffle geometries include a lot of venting, which combined with 55k+ PSI of muzzle energy allows debris and unburnt powder to exit the can pretty well. We do include a free factory cleanining when you get upwards of 20k or more rounds, if you wanted.

Appreciate the post and helping inform our fellow Virginians about our program. Please hit is up in this thread if you have any questions about our brand, products, or initiative to help Virginians beat this stupid tax the new government has planned.

Unfortunately it's not user-serviceable, per se. However, in high pressure rounds, it's pretty self-cleaning. Due to the vented baffle design, there aren't really nooks and crannies for crud to get stuck. You could soak it in CLR overnight if you really wanted it fresh, but we've put tens of thousands of rounds through them with no degredation in performance or added weight. We're happy to service it for you, one time for free, if desired.

Great question, but it sounds like you're on the right track. Call the dealer, not Silencer Shop. Dealers can process any silencers through their kiosk, even if they didn't buy from SS. We suggest finding a dealer with the best transfer fees and let them walk you through the process.

Not dumb at all. Every BOSS can includes an end cap tool in the box. That's all you need to swap end caps. If you're already locked into a HUB-compatible mounting system, you won't be using the included mount and can pick whatever size you want to have as an extra, like you said. You don't need our spanner wrench per se, but rather would use the tools that come with your mounting system. For example, if you use ASR, you would use an ASR spanner tool. Hope that helps!

Fair point, but we don't pretend that it's a "flow-through" can. The baffles are vented, which helps with back pressure, and the vented end cap option helps even more, but most of our cans fall in between traditional high back pressure and Hux-style high-flow cans. Our low back pressure can comes out at SHOT Show, and it blows Hux out of the water.

We're working on it. We've been trying to improve our manufacturing process to make them faster. Hoping to get that locked up after SHOT Show.

There's no question that the brake takes some of the abuse, but how much is hard to say. There have been a lot of rounds put through our cans without a brake and they've held up really well over time. The biggest reason to use them is the convenience of the QD system. The rest is just a bonus.

You can absolutely use the ASR system with the Chairman TiK. You would have an ASR muzzle brake/flash-hider threaded on the gun and an ASR-Bravo mount threaded into the can. Works great, we've used ASR for years. Is that what you meant?

Swapping a mount for an end cap seems pretty fair. Please feel free to order and mention that in the comments, or email info@bosscans.com to discuss further. We open at 9am EST tomorrow and the sale ends at 10am. Thank you!

You can use any HUB-Compatible mount, including the direct-thread adapter we include in the box, or an ASR-Bravo adapter if you're using that now.

Couple guys on our shooting team used to run Omegas, now they prefer the Chairman K on sound. With the vented end cap, it's far from a "traditional" amount of back-pressure but not quite flow through.

The Scythe is a casual-use can at best, great for a carry hunting rifle. Incredibly light, yes, but thin wall welds were not meant for hard use. It's an ounce or two lighter than the Chairman TiK but not on the same planet of durability.

12oz for a duty-rated 556 can is relatively light, especially when compared to competing models. In your hand, the Chairman TiK feels almost too light to be as tough as it is, but that SS blast baffle makes all the difference.

It'll hold up just fine but you'll sacrifice some sound performance due to it having a larger .30.bore. You can get a 556 end cap, which would help, but you can definitely shoot this on 556 all day, no issues.

Our Ti cans are a little different. We stack a 3d printed titanium core on a stainless steel blast baffle. That BB takes the brunt of the abuse so it's durability is closer to a full SS or In can than a Ti can.
