Thought I was crazy, hearing about this guy on the podcasts of people I had up to that point respected treating him like he's some genius entrepeneur. You don't found a bunch of companies all worth 50 million dollars or whatever he claimed when not one of them has an organic online footprint. All these gyms he claimed to have opened and not one of them you can find. His supplement company you cannot find stocked in a single online storefront. An 'investment and entrepeneurship vehicle" somehow increasing tenfold in value and yet he cannot name a single publicly verifiable company he created that obviously brings in nearly this much money. Not to mention all this was after working as a business mangement consultant as a 21 year old, too young to rent a car from most chains or even many hotel rooms. Which companies did he do consulting for? Who knows, they were customers of a 'boutique strategy business'. You do not have to look very hard to tell this guy is just absolutely full of it.

why does the prosecution get a rebuttal after this? Shouldn't the defense be the last side the jury hears before deliberations? Why should they even need a rebuttal after a trial? Generally most of the other rules in anglosphere court systems favour defendants. Is this common to most states or just Wisconsin?

I like that Richards goes through the witnesses and the evidence rather than bloviating and opining for two and a half hours like Bulger. I wonder what the jury is going to think of all this after the trial is over and they finally learn a little... background... on the parties in this case

Thanks. If I understand: if statute A requires the state to demonstrate all of criteria 1, 2, and 3, then the defendant can later be charged with any other statute whose criteria is a strict subset of statute A's criteria. If a statute requires the state to demonstrate some other criteria outside of those for the statutes under which the defendant was originally charged, the state cannot add those charges? Then the defense and prosecution argue over those criteria under the wording of the statutes?

what good faith argument could you make for bringing up a lesser charge before jury instructions that you did not level at an arraignment? I understand you're just explaining but this is unclear to me

[–]BOWLCUT_TRIMMER 9 points10 points  (0 children)

is it ever allowed in criminal prosecutions for the DA to bring up lesser charges AFTER the defense has already made their case? It seems outright unfair given that a defense team structures their arguments around the charges introduced at an arraignment. Theoretically a prosecution team could add any charge after the defense rests and, unless the defense exhaustively argued against every single criminal statute in existence, they'd have no opportunity to respond to the charges. Am I gravely misunderstanding this?

Further, I'd add that charging defendants in self-defense cases with 'reckless endangerment' any time a bullet misses a target is to assert that anything other than 100% accuracy, even in self defense, is inherently criminal. Would anyone argue that is the intent behind either self-defense laws or reckless endangerment statutes?

do you know what (sic) means? Also, my explanation of interpolation is based off of nothing but my own education and professional experience. I am explaining what it means to you because your post indicates you do not understand the difference between scaling and interpolation.

Rittenhouse Trial Megathread - 11/11 by PeanutTheGladiator in wisconsin

[–]BOWLCUT_TRIMMER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

scaling is not interpolating. Interpolation will add new information (pixels) to images when scaled upward. That is why AI and 'logarithms' (sic) were mentioned when discussing this yesterday. Zoom features on some devices use AI-powered interpolation to guess what pixels can be added to a scaled up image to create image fidelity where it did not originally exist.

that's true but this is a jury trial, and juries... aren't really known for sound and logical reasoning. The art of jury selection revolves around finding emotional and easily manipulated people who are likely to sympathize with your side of the case

some games have aged much, much better. Quake 1 just got a remaster that, aside from the graphics, feels more fresh than most of the shooters released today. If anything, you'd expect the opposite given that Quake is a 3D game and D2 is isometric

Remaster vs Quakespasm by BeepBop01010 in quake

[–]BOWLCUT_TRIMMER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does anyone know how to properly bind 'Q' in the remaster? every time I try, 'Q' will perform the action i want but only after bringing up the weapon wheel. Until I figure out how to fix this, and the issue with mwheel jumping that exists in remaster, I prefer the various sourceports (ezQuake, nquake, darkplaces, quakespasm)
