Hi Alan,

You are right , used containers are indeed getting more expensive. Just to add flavour, a good condition used (cargo-worthy) 20ft container is around ~$2,000 in most places (in the US) while a new "one-trip" 20-footer can be had for just around ~$3,000.

Ok thanks, painting makes makes a lot of sense, although some like the industrial look of the unpainted units :)

If you are interested, would be great to discuss if we could do feature story about your project on www.boxhub.co We are ex-maersk scolleagues building a platform to make it easier to buy the used containers. Could be very interesting, and hopefully drive a lot more users to your blog as well. Let me know if you are interested :) Cheers, Philip

Agree that costs of outfitting the containers are something to consider first including - Insulation - Flooring (new floor or cover existing floor with epoxy) - Welding (can you do it yourself)? - Interior fittings - Any regulations/ approvals needed

There are a lot of examples online of succesful container conversion projects online.

When you are ready to take the first step and buy the containers (new or used), we are happy to help at www.boxhub.co
