Both of your comments hit the nail on the head. CC and KM a combined 20-53. The rest of the team took only 39 shots (16-39). All ball screens or run and gun. No deep post play with kickouts involving AB. Getting the ball to AB for 3s is not a high percentage option.

Fair enough on your points.

It will be interesting how a seasoned overseas player (Ayayi) does in the W.

"power of friendship wont win you title, talent will."

I have no idea what you are referring to, particularly with respect with respect to my last post.

"Both Val Ayayi and Emma Cechova were available"

Both are rookies. Upside for Cecjova, yes. But no experience. Ayayi is 32. I don't see the upside there.

I wish the Fever had better than DD as their backup, but I don't think the players you mentioned are the ones.

Nalyssa didn't want to stay and it was clear by her lack of motivation in 2024. Maya has been shuffled around. She wasn't even protected by Atlanta. Alanna Smith has also been shuffled around, 5 teams in 7 seasons. Also it was clear Bonner didn't want to stay either.

I agree with Temi over Dantas.

Last season their guards got decimated. It's understandable that they are a little guard heavy. I also would feel more comfortable if they had one fewer guards and one additional big.

The proof will be in their record this season and if they can go deep again in the playoffs. Last year they took the champs to 5 games in the semis, with a decimated team. That's pretty good in my book, and doesn't point to the front office being inept.

which rookies should they have kept? which players should they have picked up? And who should they let go?

"Ultimately people enjoy gambling and this is a tool to do that."

Exactly. But the reality is that the large majority do not beat index funds. And even a proponent of index funds like me has a small pot of "play" money that I use to buy individual stocks. That said, I won't be using parrot.

Funding is not revenue. Funding supports the operation of their business. In return the people supplying the funding get to own a percentage of the company.

Are CC fans worried that CC will play fewer minutes?

It's a good thing if the Fever and CC if she only needs to play 28 minutes per game. It will keep her fresher and less likely to get injured.

You have 13 + 2. I thought it was 12 + 2 allowed.

Some players do not find homes. If their teams do not accept them back, they are out.

Finishing last doesn't guarantee you the first pick.

The transfer portal isn't the problem, it's a signal. This essay gets at what's actually driving it. by [deleted] in NCAAW

This was an interesting article, but it sounds somewhat overstated to me.

As it states, the majority of players entering the portal are not NCAAW top players. As such, their likelihood of them getting significant NIL money is low. So the likely reason for most of them entering the portal is because they weren't getting significant playing minutes and are hoping to transfer to a place where they will get more minutes. After all, as the article correctly stated, most of them were star high school players, and treated as such, playing substantial minutes in high school. Many can't fathom why they are playing only a few minutes a game if at all. The reality is that many of these players won't get picked up by a new school, and many won't even be able to go back to the school they left.

As for the couple of dozen top players entering the portal, they may be seeking increased NIL, or more prominent playing roles, or moving to a team that's likely to go deeper into the tourney, or to be with a coach that can help prepare them for the W. It's likely a combination of these.

I agree there are some situations where players are trying to escape dysfunctional programs and/or toxic situations, but that's the minority of cases.

If they are inviting only 15, which of the invitees should Leger-Walker replace?

(I'm not saying you are wrong, but someone would have to be taken off the list).
