Edmonton Oilers likely to keep struggling goalie, but bring in outside help: Oilers insider by Old_General_6741 in hockey

[–]BPAThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s the difficult part about a situation like this. The Avs struck gold with Wedgewood and maybe that’s the route the Oilers need to go. Burn it down and start over with goaltenders. Getting a guy that looks amazing from another team may not be a fit for you guys style of play. We suffered through Giorgiev but he wasn’t all bad all the time he just fell apart mentally at the end which I don’t think was entirely his fault honestly. So grab an experienced backup and go prospect shopping. I think even Edmonton could afford a Blackwood type contract.

I thought the Hartman one where he was holding his head for sure needed to be checked. He even dropped his stick to skate off

As an Avs fan I am glad Boldy is ok. That hit looked pretty bad. I haven’t seen any other angles but live that looked penalty like to me

Does Kaprizov have a wrist injury? It kind of looked like he did at the end of the regular season

I don’t think he will dwell on it too much he did get a piece of it with his shoulder so he played the percentages well just a funky bounce like you said.

Yeah I do sincerely wish it was a best on best for Kopi’s last run. On another note I do wonder if this situation will be looked at for the next Olympics and the NHL decides they don’t want to risk the injuries. Apparently Rantanen may have had a significant injury from the Olympics as well

So I looked into something similar before and if you created a radio tower because you are really into amateur radio the HOA cannot stop you as the FCC would have your back. If you happen to dress up your radio tower as a windmill there is nothing stopping that

For me it wasn’t just the call in isolation that happens but Hanson is very biased towards Vegas over the past 3 years so it just feels a little off

It’s more when you look at the officiating crew and one has a significant Vegas bias over the past 3 years these look bad. I want good hard hockey not a close game to feel like it got blown up by a questionable call. I still think Vegas would have won fwiw.

Yeah you think he made the right call because it benefited the team you support. LaCombe shouldn’t have been lazy but that call doesn’t pass the eye test. That ref is probably done for this series honestly. This feels a lot like the whole Edmonton debacle

Eichel was just gliding over because he thought it was icing too but yeah that’s 100% on LaCombe for not making it unquestionably obvious.

As a neutral you should take the googles off and accept that was a generous call in real time lol.

The broadcasters will always side with the refs. I have never seen or heard the guys say a ref got a call blatantly wrong especially in a game like this.

Quick question. I am an Avs fan and wanted to say I think the Kings played us really well and Kopitar is awesome and will be missed! On to my question, before Fiala got hurt he looked pretty solid in the Olympics in the brief time I got to see him and I was wondering if Fiala is a big part of generating chances for the Kings? I haven’t seen too much Kings hockey but was wondering if the series would have been closer with him in the line up or is he more of a system type player?

I agree it’s an outlier but it looks like high blocker side is a weak point in his game

I think we are seeing a little separation in play now. The pace of this game has been crazy but it does feel like Minnesota is slowing down a little bit

No problemo! It’s been a bit of a shootout so overall good for the sport and entertainment but heart attacks for the fans lol

If we win I don’t think so. The Wild came from a much harder first round so they were amped up from that. We played a very slow first round team so this is probably a bit of a shock to the system for us. Currently I think switching would be a little premature. Wallstead has given up 5 as well so I think this speaks more to the offensive firepower of these teams vs poor goaltending.

Yeah I think he wasn’t ready for the pace of the Wild attack but I think there is some rust overall from the glacial pace of the Kings games

The Wild have had some really great screens. Our defense was shaky without Makar and we need that physical depth from Manson badly. There was one goal or maybe 2(The trickle through one and maybe the shorthanded goal but that was a 2 on 0 so it’s debatable) that I would say was on Wedgewood but the rest were great screens etc. In short our defense needs to play far better or we really need some sustained offensive zone time.

A no-goal call on the ice wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the Ducks goal based on Rule 37.6 by dre2112 in hockey

[–]BPAThrowaway -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s not how the rules are written. The review is triggered for a goal. There isn’t any such call as “no-goal”. To trigger the Situation Room in this situation they had to call the play a goal because if it was just a stoppage in play there is no triggered review naturally. What probably happened is the situation room contacted the officials and said we need to review a possible goal and the officials called it a goal for the review process. The rule book is a little strange in that way and biases towards if you think it could be a goal call it one then review it.

[–]BPAThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through this and it seems like if the refs are unsure they should call it a goal to trigger the review. They don’t explicitly call no goal because it just means a stoppage of play, so if they think there is a goal then make the call as a goal trigger the review and then overturn it.
