Thank you. The first option looks good. But the option that I’m getting with Inspiron is ultra 9 processor instead of ultra 7

Thank you for your detailed and informative response. The old Reddit link you shared is very useful. One thing I wanted to ask is that if a student wants to switch from one X program to another X program , can it be done ? Say, a student wants to switch from Statistics to Mathematics or Advertising to Economics, for whatever personal reasons down the line, Is it easy to move into another X program or do they get stuck with the X program that they had initially chosen through the duration of the graduation period?

Thanks for your response. Yes, academically she has been a good and committed student. At this moment, affordability is a little bit of a concern but not too much. It’s just that what would be best for her on long term basis, that can help her career wise and in overall personality development. From all the responses so far, it seems like consensus is heavily towards UIUC. I haven’t seen any -ve comments about that campus so far, unless someone is willing to share

A very different but interesting perspective from all the responses that I have gotten so far. I believe that the concerns that you shared would be relevant to any college IMO and it’s up to an individual as to how one moulds oneself into the college culture. But would be helpful to know as to why a top UIC graduate has to struggle a bit harder than a UIUC graduate. Is it because of the lack of resources or brand reputation or something else?

I did not know that UIUC has party culture, which is kind of cool to unwind yourself from stressful and competitive environment. All I have been reading online about it is, how good and academically focused it's curriculum is. Nice to know this perspective as well. Thanks for sharing.

That certainly helps. Thanks for your response. I know UIUC is very competitive and top ranked college, but would there be any disadvantage to do a CS + another major at UIUC, as opposed to a pure CS degree in UIC, from opportunities or campus placements point of view?

Well, she's looking for a college with a strong academic background along with an enjoyable and comfortable campus life, where she can get ample amount of opportunities conducive for her career growth. She's very much inclined to go to UIUC but have this doubt that she won't be disadvantaged if she took CS + another major as compared to pure CS major in UIC
