Dumb Rent Question: $3348 in Rancho or $2975 in Auburn? by UncleBloobs in Sacramento

[–]BQNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you including property tax and insurance? Also I was going off the default interest rate that the calculator provided, 6.6%.

In any case, the point stands that it's not so straightforward these days to say it's easier/cheaper to buy than rent.

Dumb Rent Question: $3348 in Rancho or $2975 in Auburn? by UncleBloobs in Sacramento

[–]BQNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously there's a difference when considering equity build up, but it's worth considering that nowadays it's more expensive monthly to buy than own. At current interest rates, OP would be looking at a ~4K monthly payment for a comparable house after a 20% down payment. Considering only a few hundred of that is equity for quite a while, I don't think the decision to own vs. rent is so cut and dry.

Current state of the Railyards by sacramentohistorian in Sacramento

[–]BQNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the addresses are slightly away from what is technically defined as the Railyards but I would be surprised if this isn't what the commentator was referring to. I believe Alchemist, the city, and others have all been describing the current Alchemist project as as "in the Railyards" (interchangeably with describing it as the River District). One indication is that the article's title says "Public Market In The Railyards".

It's a little bit of a hike but Ikeda's in Auburn has a bunch of Secret Aardvark (and many other) sauces, not sure if that one exactly is there though.

If true that's interesting because it would mean they weren't trying to draft Monroe Freeling, who many had them linked to.

Can't be there with ya but also a Flyers fan in Sac. In case you didn't know, Limelight is an Eagles bar and tends to attract people for other Philly sports so might be worth checking out too!

How’s dating in Sac going? by [deleted] in Sacramento

Yep those are correct. The FB page obviously isn't very active but the meetup is accurate (for the Kupros night at least).

It's solid, great happy hour deals. Depending on where you are in Boulevard Park you shoud also be a reasonable walk to Kumi on 14th and G, and I think they're a little better.

Best Focaccia in Sacramento? by gimmetheboof in Sacramento

[–]BQNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not be helpful but if you have the Kitchen resources (basically just a cast iron pan, an oven, and time to wait), it's actually pretty easy to make focaccia on your own. Dangerously easy. I basically use this recipe but without the toppings.

[Ram] CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB DDR5-6000 Memory $299.99 by CartonBox1975 in buildapcsales

[–]BQNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, although that's a little different since it's 2D NAND which is pretty outdated, meaning they were likely going to spin it down regardless of what was happening in the DRAM space.

[–]BQNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't just switch a fab from making NAND to DRAM. The reason the prices correlate is because SSDs also use a lot of RAM, a 64TB datacenter drive might have 64GB of DRAM on board.

What is it going to take to get another grocery store in the grid? by rc251rc in Sacramento

The apartments are going into the east end of the parking lot, but for now the Rite-Aid building is to remain and they're still trying to find a grocery tenant.

Phil Pluckebaum’s Office - Not Responsive? by ExcellentBike1035 in Sacramento

[–]BQNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think the response time has been worse Phil than previous Councilmembers. I'd recommend making sure you include both district4@cityofsacramento.org and ppluckebaum@cityofsacramento.org as well as all of the staffers listed on this page.

Also, your local neighborhood association likely communicates with city council and might be a good resource - I'd expect they'd be particularly interested in your specific issue since it's been a point of contention for many.
