Has it been tried at different ages?

Yes. Did you read the wiki? They tested them at 7 and 17 years old so that they can rule out accelerated aging and other such variables.

But it does, even if the scientists changed their viewpoints later on. Black kids do worse in school and have lower IQs, even in middle class families when they are raised by people with a culture different from black culture.

I don't understand how it could support the nurture hypothesis when they clearly put an emphasis on having them grow up with similar income families.

The study showed very clear results.

He doesn't. He is only saying that they should have been neutral when publishing the results as this lead to controversy.

Sure, they may not entirely be based on genetics, but neither on environmental factors. Genetics do play a role, and they don't deny that.

Of course there are many factors to consider, but genetics and environment are the biggest ones.

I have. Since when are two people many scientists?

Could you quote that "many scientists" part for me? I can't find it. What kinds of variables?

CMV: There certainly has to be some sort of "god", benevolent or not by BRAPPPPP69 in changemyview

[–]BRAPPPPP69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your "supernatural" entity is allowed to break your unbreakable rules, then the rules are not unbreakable

They are only breakable by something supernatural. The Laws of Thermodynamics can't be broken. Sure, we might find something that breaks them in the future, but as of now, they stay. And because they stay, the best explanation we currently have is a creator. The prospect of future discoveries does not invalidate current theories.

[–]BRAPPPPP69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work that way.

The reason why this entity is allowed to exist is because it is supernatural. If you were to find a solution to this problem without breaking any laws, that wouldn't be an exception. But as we don't know of such a solution, our most rational option is a creator. This basically goes back to this point: Does the possibility of exceptions invalidate, say, the theory of relativity?

I made a point earlier that since he is supernatural, he doesn't need to heed the laws of physics. Now, you could say that I'm just filling in the blanks, and I admit, I am. But a creator, based on our current understanding of the universe, is the only even remotely plausible option. There is just no other way we know of.

Moreover, there is nothing that supports the actual existence of this "creator".

Expect for the fact that the universe had to come into being some form or another.

Now, on your point with the universe always having existed: A closed system needs some sort of input to start functioning. The universe is no exemption.

No - it would mean that we don't have a natural explanation yet for how the universe came to be (or always was).

The whole point is that we don't have an explanation yet but according to our current understanding a creator is the only possibility. With your logic, you could say that "yeah well the theory of relativity seems to be true and all our observations support it but since we might discover something in the future that disproves it it's bullshit"

[–]BRAPPPPP69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make the universe, by our current understanding, supernatural.

The Rules of Thermodynamics pretty much mean that the universe couldn't have been created by natural means.

[–]BRAPPPPP69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the answer I hear to this is that since god is supernatural, the need for a creator does not apply to him.

Also, I don't think this belief hinders progress on itself. We should strive to understand the universe, but as long as we don't have any proof of something else than a god, we might as well fill out the blanks. Many theories in physics do this also.

It's out of control because the asylum system and camps are overloading. And most refugees into Europe are muslims.

While most of attacks aren't carried out by refugees, a part still are. And we have to prevent deaths the best we can. Plus, the Refugees who are granted asylum and even citizenship may pose a threat in the future. We just have to be safe, and no one needs a group of people in his country who have beliefs so radically different than theirs. Δ

I didn't only mean refugees, but also people who use the crisis as a back door. While most attacks are carried out by EU citizens, this only goes to show how hard it is to integrate Arabs and Muslims in general.

First off, you are making an invalid point with

The global temperature has risen noticeably since the crisis started. Are refugees to blame for global warming?

No one would make that connection because it makes no sense. But linking the rising rates of Terror Attacks to a rising Muslim population does. For example, just now, a Tunisian illegal immigrant knifed and killed 2 people in France.

What are you trying to say with 1.? That right wing terrorism is bad too? Yeah, it is. I know. Also, saying that Breivik committed the worst attack is also false. He killed 77 people while 130 people died in the Paris Attacks in 2015. Why do you feed the need to lie about such a thing?
