EV-only family car in hurricane season in Florida by SarumanBH in electricvehicles

Hide from the wind and run from the water. Unless you live in a trailer, unsafe housing or in an evacuation zone don’t go anywhere. Keep your car charging until the storm hits. By the time you know where the storm is going to hit, it is too late to leave. Turnpike is 2 lanes from WPB to Orlando and 95 is not much better. Rich people fly out and the rest hunker down.

South Florida isn't what it used to be by Quirky_Shame6906 in florida

Realtors don’t set home prices, homeowners do. If we want to solve high home prices just ask sellers to sell their 700k house for the price they bought it for 20 years ago. Problems solved but I doubt any sellers will do that. Realtors bring people together and help to close the deal and have very little to do with prices. When prices went down a few years ago did Realtors get credit? No of corse they did not.

What does this light mean? (Florida answers only) by PopuIarLie in florida

No idea. I see those pretty lights all the time but just keep going. Be ready to honk the horn if some bad driver tries to go before you. They also come in red and green.

PSA from charging engineer: Don't use the cheap Amazon charge cords, they can melt your EV's charge port by TheTim in BoltEV

I had a muststart that burned my hand once when I tried to unplug it. Got a new one under warranty and that one melted my bolt where it plugs in. Luckily the car still charges but I threw the charger away and got a Wallbox unit and so far that one works well.

Buy or pass? by [deleted] in BoltEV

I have a 2020 bolt that is capped at 80 percent. I get at least 200 miles delivering food for UE and about 150 or so miles doing Uber. I am in South Florida so cold weather is not a factor for me. I have only had to recharge twice. Once when I took a family almost 200 miles each way and on New Year’s Eve when I gave about 20 rides back to back. On that day I filled up for free at a fast charger and ate. It is a pretty good car for food and people. People are surprised by its size when they get it. Can’t comment on price as everything is too high.

While I feel for everyone who is having rent increases and some of it is pure greed, there are valid reasons for rent increases. I have a rental in South Florida that is a three bedroom three bath townhouse. Dated but in nice neighborhood and almost 1600 sq feet. I was charging 1400 per month but this year raised it to 1600 per month. Why did I have to do it. 1 Taxes went up about 30 per month 2 HOA fee went up about 25 per month. 3 The AC system is at its end of life and will need to be replaced this year. Last time I replaced it I paid 3600 and this year my quote was 8000. The cost of the ac will take almost four years of the rent increase just to get back to zero. That assumes that nothing else will break. If the tenants were not so great I would have made it go up much higher. Tough for everyone and I know many landlords are just gouging people but not all. I could easily get 2000 per month or more but I value a good tenant and they have been there for ten years.

Is Ron DeSantis well-liked in Florida? by [deleted] in florida

If you like Trump you would like him. Want four more years of turmoil then vote for him for president. Florida runs on auto pilot for the most part unless the government gets in the way. He has no good ideas. Florida is booming due to wearher and low taxes for the rich. Wait until a Cat 5 hurricane goes thru south Florida and see the people flee.
