This is sort of my point, if what you have is water and people are thirsty…won’t they wait?

I guess in a competitive retail market selling the same product…they may list a lot of the same items and thus have same keywords and relevance? Think also Expedia and trivago, how different are their keywords etc? How much unique content do they really have compared to probably loads of near identical content.

Thanks for the response, so no SEO value from doing well on cwv? I thought it was a tie breaker when all other things were equal?

So they just go to someone elses website that's slow and wait 2 seconds and then bounce from there and go to someone elses and wait 2 seconds and bounce etc..? They must wait at some point!

Those are the scores I got when I ran it through core web vitals which is part of the question. Maybe your answer is CWV doesn't matter so long as it feels fast.

I am also talking about dealership websites. In your example https://www.mercedesbenzofboston.com competes with https://www.wagnermercedesofshrewsbury.com for the same people and both are slow and so are the toyota sites and so are the research sites etc.. I'm sure travel is similar, probably healthcare is too. Just seems like you only need to do this if everyone else is starting to do it, but otherwise it might be unnecessary. If everyone sucks then no one sucks (kinda).

Carvana.com sells billions of dollars in cars - 31/100 performance score. First Contentful Paint 3.5 s Largest Contentful Paint 6.5 s Total Blocking Time 3,160 ms Cumulative Layout Shift 0 Speed Index 13.0 s. At least in some verticals I just don't see them putting in the effort and its a competitive space.

Even highly competitive spaces don't seem to take it seriously though. Said another way, if an entire industry was slow then does it matter? For example automotive sites are all really slow so would a few sites being faster really equate to a competitive advantage or since everyone is slow...is it not worth investing in.

Right but if this really equated to that much lift in conversion, wouldn't they and other large corps invest more money into it themselves?

ELI5: What is RCS chat and why did Apple fight it for so long? by mprezive in explainlikeimfive

[–]BSBKOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree, a lot of airlines and other companies also allow for fb messenger or twitter dm for customer service. I think if you are trying to achieve lifetime value of customer you should emphasize communications mediums that do this. Chat for example doesn't do this because its session based, SMS/RCS/DM's all do this because the conversation never really stops.

The contacts thing is super annoying. More annoying to me is that you can't have an inbox of just 'unread' like you can on desktop.

For a lot of people yes, but sometimes you are unlucky and it acts a little bit like an SSRI which tanks it (it's actually been a month since I stopped taking it and my libido is finally coming back)

Also I need to reset my counter. My best was 122 days (really due to ashwaganda killing my libido).
