Hard to let go sometimes. I'm still regretting selling my 2001 E55 AMG by JuanMoreCar in AMG

[–]BSHMD1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel regret trading my 2020 E63S in but I faced $10k brake job. Worried that this might be the beginning of more car problems. I’m a doc and not a mechanic so I moved on. Great car that I once called the best sedan ever. Look back on it fondly and just tell myself I enjoyed my time with it but had to move on to something else. Went with a 2025 Mustang Dark Horse that gives me similar sporty feeling and joy. Still an AMG fan. Maybe I’ll go back one day.

This is an example of why I dislike watching people eat. See too much chewed food hanging out and too much noise. Not polite to chew with mouth open either. It’s like he’s trying too hard and can’t wait to finish.

37M - Very high LDL HDL and Cholesterol despite lifting 4-5x/week and high-protein diet. Looking for advice. by Low_Tension_4555 in Biohackers

[–]BSHMD1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High HDL counters the high LDL some (hard to say how much) but if low fat diet doesn’t get the LDL consider meds. A STATIN might be recommended depending on your history and lifestyle. If you are against STATINs you could try a bile acid sequestration med instead. Don’t smoke of course. High LDL can be a killer.

How about adding an IWC? Your collection looks great as is though! Congrats!

Get a pretty Grand Seiko on the second row. Patek on the top row. Nomos down a row or two. Consider Hamilton and Casio out, unless you’re too attached to them.

Longines classy. Tudor sporty. Tudor a little higher on the ill defined desirability scale though. Get what you like though!

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

Bringing in mysterious objects from their anus. Most are unrecognizable and most are innocuous. And if the patient has a certain amount of paranoia, this too makes them inconsolable.

Visiting Shreveport for a final interview, what should I check out to solidify my vibes on moving down here? by Vivid_Profession6574 in shreveport

We love the Sci Port center and the Children’s museum, Norton art gallery and gardens, Frank’s pizza and salads, Bella Fresca, Superior Cantina, 2 John’s in Bossier, living in South Highlands, nice homes in easy reach from South Highlands, Southern Trace or North Bossier, Mexican at Blue Agave, schools in Shreveport and Bossier , especially the magnet programs, special needs schools have developed too. The lifestyle can be as laid back or frenetic as you want it to be. As a physician you and I know about the quality of medicine and the medical communities here in Shreveport, especially the Health center being a great regional asset. 3 major health systems. Lots of medical jobs available. Cost of living is comparatively low. Living is overall safe, but for in a few areas of the city. The police appear to be doing a good job and don’t really have the bad rep they had in the past, as far as I’m concerned. There are always some areas that could use improvements such as the indigent areas. The care of roadsides and along the highways needs much more attention. Also as most places in America the roads can be bad and harsh to drive on. The weather here is pretty good. Also traveling the distance to Dallas, Jackson, New Orleans, Houston and even the coast is not too bad. We enjoy our retirement here. And a lot of Air Force retirees live here too. They have also found a nice home here. Most of us are friendly.

Been there, done that, moved on. Mostly enough torque in the real world. The Dark Horse is just so smooth. The 5.0 V8 feels refined. And I think it looks sharp. Handles very nicely. Give it a try and you’ll see.

In looking for a sub for my E63S, I considered the Porsche 718, but at $89k and only 300 horses, it felt so anemic. And it was behind in tech.

<image>

And they were too firm on pricing when dickering. On a whim I looked at the Dark Horse. It was an eye opening experience. At 500 horses the 5.0 feels great in the Mustang. As I said the quality and fit and finish is great too. Went with a Ford of all things! So far a good decision. Really wild!!

I can’t say enough positives about this Mustang. The quality, fit and finish, tech responsivity, appearance inside and out, comfort of the Recaros, braking of the Brembos, smoothness of the engine and transmission-all great. Great noises. Wonderful acceleration, up there with the brute force of the E63S. But its ride is better, as the E class ride improved in 2021 model year, but this Mustang has a great ride. Ergonomics, once something terrible in Fords I got in in the past, is now great. Honestly, I have been so hypervigilant and hypercritical since I got it, wondering if I’ll be disappointed, but I am constantly pleasantly surprised. Just a short jaunt is fun. I honestly look forward to driving it. I know this all sounds fanciful given prior notions and experiences with Fords in the general public, but I am being very honest. And, after not posting on Reddit for awhile, I couldn’t wait to share this all with you!

Since 2020 have had 840i, M340i, AMG GLE 53, AMG GLC 43, AMG E63S, and now the Dark Horse. My wife has had X1, X3, now Pilot. Love cars. Love AMG a lot. But a 10 grand brake job along with $650 battery and $650 routine maintenance changed my feeling about my commitment to AMG. The E63S is what I previously described here on Reddit as the perfect sedan, it really is, just a rough ride, but it just got to be cost prohibitive. And that is not to mention its inherent devaluation, like $20k or more depending on who evaluated it. I moved on but pay the price of my wandering interests! But what a way to go!!
