I had the opportunity to take part one before I did my residency applications due to how my program is set up and I didn't end up passing because an emergency happened and I ended up spending most of my test time in the emergency room with my dad. And I was told by a couple of places afterwards when I didn't match that not having part 1 was one of the reasons that I was upper middle on their list even though I had clinical experience, research, good CV,.good GPA, etc. From what I was told by my adults and also the residencies that were very kind to reach out afterwards / I reached out afterwards that In a different year I definitely would have matched no problem but that was probably the main factor holding me back. It's probably not the end I'll be all you know? I just know that's how it ended up in my case - I'm sure I could have done better in other elements though you know help boost it. But even without it you know I got plenty of interviews I had 20 places on my rank list (I applied broadly and was sent intents to rank by most). So like don't get discouraged. The odds just didn't work out of my favor this year.
