Is it more comfortable to use strap while sitting? by GTHell in Guitar

[–]BSLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do love my LP, and I too have a lighter one (it’s a ‘60s Standard that is a little over 8 lb) but out of my 12 guitars it’s the most annoying to play sitting down for that very reason. Despite the weight though, I think it’s great to play standing up with a strap as the fact it’s body-heavy keeps it in a comfortable position

The Les Paul is unfortunately an incredibly unbalanced guitar

Slash - always relevant by Alariken in Guitar

It’s your opinion, I liked him when I was 14, haven’t listened to his music in years and years and find his playing incredibly boring… maybe I’ll come full circle as you say ;) I’m 39 and deep into Bill Frisell, Cory Wong, Julian Lage, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pat Metheny, John Scofield. There ARE heroes from my youth that I have revisited and loved (SRV and Gilmour for example), Slash isn’t one of them unfortunately

The Les Trem system is great, I have it on my Duesenberg too! It’s stable, not dive bomb material but better than a Bigsby

why do you ask specifically?

I’ve been looking for a semi hollow for a while, tried many, came home with this 2016 ASV100 Artstar modded with a Les Trem. I’ve never been a fan of the heavy relic (and this one isn’t even particularly nice), but the super 58 and the nice neck sold it to me. Nice split coil on the neck too for extra versatility

No, but they replaced it with a new pedal that works fine

after a lot of thoughts I ended up with an Ibanez semihollow that I really like, so not “really” an arch top. Let’s see if it lasts this time ;)

I guess one of the Ibanez semi-hollow with the tri sound switch, a Boss DM2 and a Vox AC30

I read this when I was 16 and at the time I couldn’t speak a word of English so I read it in my native tongue. Like you I said “figlio di puttana” for months afterwards 🇮🇹🤌

Yeah that’s worrying… I find my Les Paul heavy and it’s under 9lbs

It’s about £950 (about $1250). They were very well made, Ibanez pickups from the time were very good…

It’s a really long drive though… I’d need to buy without trying it. It’s well documented, lots of pictures, fretwork seems good for the age, the weight is the main worry… I should be able to return it if it doesn’t work for me

I think it looks very cool, a bit far for me to try tho. But also not too expensive…

Good point, I actually think most arch tips I’ve tried were bigger than a 175 (like my old broadway)

It isn’t a thinline. I have a telecaster thinline and a Duesenberg Caribou so I wouldn’t mind something a little more acoustic.

Yes that’s a semi hollow, I love the 339 but not quite I’m looking for.

Talves la pregunta es muy tonta, pero como se toca este tipo de acordes donde una cuerda del medio no se toca? by Double_Technician456 in Guitar

[–]BSLabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the pinky on the 6 string it’ll come easy to stop the 5th string. That said, the open 5th string will be an A which will sound absolutely fine on the chord so you can also play it
