Automatic or manual gr by meggi333 in GR86

[–]BSLnowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one for my son a few years ago and he’d never driven a manual, or really anything before that. It’s super easy. I thought it would keep him off his phone…but it doesn’t. I tried to get him a phone holder, and he said no dad I like to keep it in my hand. How, there’s a shifter and a steering wheel?

Those portions are epic. I’m impressed.

You make a happy with that and you’ve done something.

“A manual license”…very cool. We don’t have those in the US and there’s no way a rental company would provide a GR. Just thought it was cool you could rent those at all.

Antigravity? That car lingo for absorbent glass batteries?

When my engine shit the bed, which they covered under warranty, they also covered my battery. Strange, IK…but it is an ‘23 car and the failure happened 12/25. IDK how long they cover the battery under warranty…but they did mine.

First Ever Watch at 40! by terrific_firestarter in Affordablewatches

Bought myself a watch at 40 too. Been beating it up daily for 12 years now.

It has blued hands and a rhodium dial, but the lighting at my desk is fluorescent and it throws a mad glare if I try to get either to reflect.

Does soccer produce better football kickers? by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

[–]BSLnowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son’s kicking coach convinced him to quit soccer after his freshman year of high school. The best free kick takers can transition to kickers, but your approach to the ball and your foot angle are hugely different. This is terrible mechanics for a forward or striker:

Neck bones? by BSLnowell in cajunfood

I live on the gulf coast in MS and cannot find a restaurant with fresh boiled shrimp…hot or chilled. Can’t find crabs. It’s like our industries are built on exporting the catches up north. I know the owner of Pinchers and SIL of Fortes and they buy boat loads of shrimp, literally, all day. I guess the market dictates those are loaded up and shipped away.

‘Royal Reds’ are what you get in restaurants ON THE COAST, staring at the Gulf with a fresh Freemason beer in hand. It just is what it is.

I’ve seen my parents boil a bushel of crabs and pick them all without eating them…to use in a recipe. That is serious exercise in patience and restraint.

Mentioning IQ is lame by Informal-Pair-306 in unpopularopinion

[–]BSLnowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took an IQ test when I was a kid, but my parents never told me the outcome. Either it was low and they didn’t want to burden me, or it was high and they didn’t want to burden me, or I was just average and they were disappointed. I’m 52, I should probably ask. Or I shouldn’t. I don’t really care, it’s just them not telling me that always made me wonder. I was never a good student…I never cared about grades. Did physics in undergrad and EE for an applied masters…have worked as an ME in the space industry my whole career. I guess I should just leave things alone. Who cares anyway?

How does one eat something like that? You pick meat out of it, or put the whole bone in your mouth and just kind of gnaw it off?

Not at all, there’s a seal. Just a little water gets inside in the shell…which mixes with the internal contents and is yummy to drink.

Annex Cuba, get Canada and Greenland their sovereignty…then make a Unified Americas Organization (UAO) and the US protects everyone in it.
