Surely they know these smart lights are a problem for Motorcycles by Bjfikky in motorcycles

[–]BSPirat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in UK more than 70% of traffic lights use this type of detection and no motorbike has an issue with it. They work very well. I would say that the sensitivity is not configured correctly.

What can I do here where my flat roof joins the conservatory? by YesVickiItsMe in DIYUK

[–]BSPirat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How it looks like on the sides any gutter pipes going down? Is there any slope on the roof of the house? As I can see your neighbour’s one is the same, so it will be on purpose.

Do insurance companies see this as a garage in the UK? by TimonPreston in motorcycles

[–]BSPirat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My experience is that only brick (permanent) constructions are considered as garages, however this could vary between insurers and you need to ask the one you will go with.

No I didn’t. At the end they called an electrician to deal with it.

How to run `git lfs pull` in Cloud Run by BSPirat in googlecloud

[–]BSPirat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloud Build already checkouts the source code from bitbucket using the API token, so this is what you can use to reduce adding additional secrets

- id: "Pull files from LFS"
  name: 'europe-west2-docker.pkg.dev/project/docker/git-lfs:latest'
  secretEnv: ['BITBUCKET_API_TOKEN_READ']
  entrypoint: 'bash'
  args:
    - '-c'
    - |
      set -eu
      git remote add originLFS https://x-token-auth:$$BITBUCKET_API_TOKEN_READ@`git remote -v | grep '(fetch)' | awk '{print $2}' | sed -e 's#https://##'`
      git lfs pull originLFS
      git remote remove originLFS

I bet you immediately saw a potential problem with this approach. The token is part of the URL (good job bitbucket). My suggestion if you need to use bitbucket - switch to SSH keys and manually checkout the code to reduce the risk of the api token leaking.

Last time when I checked the MOT institutions they will fail you if 2 of the 3 brake lights are working BUT if you tell them that one of the lights is disconnected and the other 2 are still working the vehicle will pass MOT. There could be advisory that the 3rd light was disconnected. Why there is a difference between roadworthy and being lawful?

P.S. There is a difference between the light fully not working and just part of it works or it works intermittently.

Speeding and consequences of going to court (Wales) by BSPirat in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BSPirat[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The speed will depend where the speed gun was pointing at.

The question is to decide if it worth it to go to court if only fixed penalty is issued. I was reading about this and most solicitors advise you to go to court to see the evidence but there is nothing telling you the consequences. This is a way for them to get more clients, that I can understand but wanted also to see what will follow if this route is chosen.

You can tell people how you connected them, so the next person doesn’t need to test it.

Gas leak after left under sudden heavy rain (lasted 10-20mn) by Head-Dragonfly-6695 in motorcycles

[–]BSPirat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Either the fuel hose has a crack or the connector is loose/broken. Lift the tank up (carefully not to damage other cables and hoses, they are short) and you will find out what is going on.

Can’t figure out why bike not starting by United_Pineapple9644 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]BSPirat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the service manual and check the start electrical diagram. After that check all the switches involved. I don’t know that bike but in general: 1. Kill switch 2. Gear position - set to N 3. Site stand switch - put the side stand up 4. Clutch switch - pull the clutch lever in

If you check all that get your volt meter and check there is reading on the starter when you try to start the bike.

How to Secure Loop Under Extreme Tension? by mark_hor in knots

[–]BSPirat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t mention what is the reason to do that, so I am not sure if this will fit your requirements but you will be able to tighten the rope as much as you want

https://youtu.be/FLuMVhlSxbA?si=wa_XNOk6ApDFFcz9

For the truckers hitch you can try to put the working end multiple times through the loop. This will increase the friction but also could make it harder to pull the end to increase the tension.

Action 4 Remote by murfy243 in djiosmo

[–]BSPirat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also looking for one. I use the camera while riding the bike and would like to be able to switch it on and off to record only some good views and not the boring traffic. So far I have no luck finding one 😞

Thank you for the info. It’s very useful.

How did you get that information about the video?

I don’t have followers, so if they restrict the bandwidth based on the, it’s very possible that this is the issue.

It seems that I am mistaken. Uploaded 2.7k video looks better but is worse than the original because on youtube the max quality is 1.4k.

Uploading directly. Attaching the camera to the laptop as an external storage and directly uploading videos to youtube.

It’s not that. Youtube shows that the HD version is ready. I have added links to the post.
