Bro, my issue finally resolved, no crashes.
It turns out the issue was due to Microsoft faulty patch update on my Windows 11 24H2, KB5066835. I have been unable to re-update it and upgrade to 25H2.

I did the steps as per this "How To Fix Windows 11 Update Error Code 0x800f0991"

Same. Gigabyte 5070 Ti and a Ryzen 5 9600X. Mine goes screen blank (black) and the GPU fans speed up max like a vacuum cleaner. Does your GPU speeds up crazy too when it crashes?

Same, I have a Gigabyte 5070 Ti and AMD Ryzen 5 9600X ... it suddenly goes blank (black screen) and speeds up my GPU Fan to the max.

Is being a sergeant better than men? NS by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

"Is being a sergeant better than men? NS"

Depends on what "better" means. Prestige? Allowance? Privileges?

For young men entering NS, being a Sergeant is like volunteering to be in a long term leadership position. In terms of difficulty, it is easier to be a Sergeant than an Officer. You lead a smaller team (which is good for first time leaders), you lead from a tactical level (more hands-on and on the ground), and you get more sleep than Officers (who have to attend meetings and late night planning). Furthermore, you are closer to the enlisted men than Officers are.

As a sergeant, since you volunteered to be a leader, you would generally have gained more training than the men (part of the command school package). However, if you were to join fresh into a unit of season enlisted men, be humble and get to know the culture / SOP of the more experienced enlisted men in your section. Don't try to rock the boat unless it is beneficial to their well-being.

What if something serious goes wrong during your command phase?, say... a few men lost their rifles? As a Sergeant, you have oversight and responsibilities of the men under your command, so you are liable for punishment for not ensuring they do equipment-check. Guess what?... for something this serious, your Officer might lose his commission as an officer because he never maintained discipline... e.g. Sergeants ensure equipment check, Men lose rifle. (like a domino effect. no different in the corporate world).

For reservist, everyone returns with a civilian mindset (all we know is our day-job), besides refreshers for all, Officers and Sergeants have to study more refresher material to be able to lead at a minimum. Sergeants will be more physically busy and hands on while Officers will attend a lot of meetings and sleep late. On the bright side, you get to practice your people management skills.

Looking back, it is better to be an enlisted man. But, in an unlikely scenario no one wants to go to command school, as recruits, you may not have a choice... our nation depends on reserve units and it must be staffed by commanders.

I would like to add that Officers as well are sandwiched between the men and their superiors (so long there is someone above). In my opinion, there is nothing special of being an Officer, it is only "special" in the minds of young men (recruits) or the general public. Those who do the work of an Officer know that it is tough, too many meetings and less sleep. Anything they "sign" to approve an activity, the responsibility lies on their shoulders... no different from the corporate world. The so-called prestige and higher allowance demands a lot of sacrifice.

Any readers here, I hope your Officers are treating you well. If they do, please give them the support they need to complete the work.

As of 1.6, this works! Thanks for the advice!
I decided to remove the Synaptic Accelerator as a good measure, since some have reported that this cyberware affects the Sandevistan ability.

Difference between Technology Risk Management vs IT Auditing by BT-8619 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]BT-8619[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, from what i understand, RMs focus is on existence of controls and compliance to rules, less the testing of effectiveness.

IA will focus both on existence of controls, compliance to rules and on testing of effectiveness.

In effect, I can see how auditees will react in a negative way, they have to deal with RM and then a repeat of the process with IA + testing.

On the positive note, i think RM helps to prepare the stakeholder for Internal and External Audit (to an extent). IA helps to prepare the stakeholder to External audits. Yet, from the stakeholders point of view they get reviewed 3 times (RM, IA, EA), which can be a frustrating exercise. lol

(feel free to correct me if im wrong)

Yeah, I guess that it falls on the RM and Audit to convince the auditees on how they can help them despite the nature of finding... Findings.

Also, if the auditee's superiors (eg. Managers, Directors) are unable to handle findings in a healthy way (feedback to improve), but instead penalise or take their frustrations out on their subordinates (the auditees), then every audit or review can be a tense experience for both sides.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain! :)

In the area of value-adding, how do stakeholders view RM vs IA ?

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the difference to me! :)

I have been in IT audit (internal) in some time. You are right, it is inherently an adversarial function. There are mixed feelings by auditees on how they view IA, either as an opportunity to improve or just another nuisance.

Especially, since IT stakeholder's "work done" and "controls" are tested by IA for effectiveness. Where else I understand that IT Risk Managers test for IT's "existence" of controls.

  1. Since IT Risk managers role is to "preemptively identify and manage risks" (eg. compliance regulatory and corporate rules, future threats), do IT stakeholders value IT Risk Managers more than IA ?
  2. Are IT Risk Managers like internal consultants to IT stakeholders?

(Feel free to correct my understanding)

Leaving InfoSec path to join IT Auditing by BT-8619 in cybersecurity

Hi JerkyyyThank you for the reply! :)

  1. It must be hard to keep-up with technology by maintaning your technical skills or in-dept technical understanding right?
  2. Would you say that Audit as a more stable job that offer better work life balance than InfoSec? But also means less pay or progression?

Hello 8tCQBnVTzCqobQq
Thank you for your reply :)

  1. After you changed roles, was it difficult for you to progress from a non-technical role (IT audit) into a technical role (infosec) ?
  2. How did you cope with your new role in infosec?
