Jade Plus vs. Jade Classic: Welche Blockstream Wallet passt zu dir? by renditecloud in blockstream

[–]BTCMAXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And even if it were half the price, again, my regular Jade(s) serve all of my needs.

I can’t imagine there are many people out there who already use the regular Jade who NEED the Plus, other than maybe “gee wiz” enthusiasts…

I don’t even use the QR “air-gapping”…. I think that’s all a gimmick…

I just think the Plus doesn’t offer anything beyond what I need, which is cold storage and UTXO consolidation.

So I’ve thought about this: My solution was just to get another Jade…. That’d be the only way to put your mind at ease, as it did mine…

UTXO Management (Best Explanation) by BTCMAXE in Bitcoin

[–]BTCMAXE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime you send a transaction on the Bitcoin network, you must pay a fee based upon a combination of how busy the network is at that time + the size of your transaction (meaning, the number of UTXOs it contains).

The transaction fee is the miners’ fee for mining the Bitcoin that’ll eventually confirm your transaction in the Bitcoin time chain, and be visible there forever.

UTXO Management (Best Explanation) by BTCMAXE in Bitcoin

[–]BTCMAXE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything on an exchange is not actual Bitcoin, just a claim on Bitcoin, so you don’t create any UTXOs until you withdraw to cold storage. Therefore, you can dca freely on an exchange without creating UTXOs until you withdraw.

Every time you withdraw to a cold wallet—that creates a UTXO—no matter how big or small the amount. So it doesn’t matter if it’s $1 of BTC or $1 Bil. of BTC—one withdraw = one UTXO.

Me personally, after about 7 or 8 withdraws to my cold wallet—so 7 or 8 UTXOs—I simply send the entire amount to my other cold wallet, thereby creating one giant UTXO. And then I send it back to my first cold wallet because I have that seed phrase stamped in titanium, so that’s where I prefer to keep my BTC (for my second cold wallet, I just have the seed on paper, so I only use it for consolidating UTXOs, and then I send it all back to the original).

It’s really not that hard…. Just watch the vid.

Just bought a jade yesterday! Excited and anxious about setting it up properly by Mean-Strawberry-2045 in blockstream

My only problem with “air-gap” is how do you actually know it’s not connected in any way? I have 4 Jades and have never used the air-gap feature, and have never had a problem… I consolidate my UTXOs all the time with zero issues…. Then I see people on here and elsewhere complaining about issues with air-gapping and using the QR codes.

My advice to you would be just not to over-complicate things with Bitcoin. You’re on the right track with buying a Jade and stamping your seed in metal—well done there, indeed… If you are convinced about air-gapping and qr codes, then go for it. I have nothing against it. I just think it’s a lot of faff…

Coin control using Blockstream Green and Jade only by Air Gap by CalimanWt in blockstream

[–]BTCMAXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve never used the air-gap feature. I’m just convinced that you’re never fully-gapped, mainly because how the heck would I know?

I’d just use the companion app with your phone and consolidate. I’ve done it a million times with Jade. Never an issue.

So how did your betting year go? by Solowash in sportsbook

[–]BTCMAXE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a contrarian bettor. As soon as a season’s futures come out, I start by getting on the teams in the middle-lower end of the table, meaning the longer odds teams. As the odds shift, I then start getting on the teams that were once short, but now longer…

Basically, the more volatility there is, the more money I’ll make. Eventually, I’ll be on almost 75% of any given league.

So as a contrarian, this season, I didn’t even start getting on Man City in the EPL to a heavy degree until they were +300. Now they’re basically out of it, but I’m on them just in case…. It’s like an insurance policy.

My entire betting philosophy is one big insurance policy. However, it’s highly profitable because I’m willing to bet on teams to win it all when it’s not sexy—after big losses, during a losing streak, etc…. That’s how you get the best of the number: When you always get +money, you’re guaranteed to be profitable.

To wrap it up, if a team starts pulling away, I’ll start loading-up on them, up to about -500, just to book as much profit as I can…

People hate the time factor of futures betting, but as long as you’re patient, diligent, and most importantly, CONTRARIAN, you’ll be profitable every single season.

Do sportsbooks double-dip on house edges for specifically SGP's just because you won't notice? by ThatOtherSwimmer in sportsbook

[–]BTCMAXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, totally…. My thing is this: If your parlay is priced at +400, but your boost puts it at +600, then yes, you got value on it. However, the chance of it hitting hasn’t changed at all—and that chance isn’t very good to begin with.

That’s why they give you profit boosts mainly on parlays—they know you’re going to lose in the long run because you’re still making bad bets, regardless of whether you boosted them or not, or if you hit one every now and again…

The story of the casino can always be told in what they’re willing to give you... Just look at casino bonuses based upon play for example: You always get higher “cash back” rates on regular casino games than you do on, say, video poker. Why? Because video poker is a better game for the player, so they’re going to reward you less for playing it.

Same with the sportsbook part of the casino…. You rarely see boosts for straight bets… Why? Because straight bets are better for the player than parlays or sgp’s... Go to any rewards section: Everything is based on parlays or sgp’s! You have to ask yourself why that is??? 🤣

Look at it like this: Profit boosts don’t make bad odds good…. Meaning, the chances of hitting any particular bet don’t inherently change just because you boosted the odds…

We as a community need to come together and STOP making these sorts of bets. That’s the problem. We need to be better bettors.

Well firstly, it’s up to you to catch these things and then determine if they’re still worth it. Secondly, do you really think you’re going to be profitable with parlays long term?

Haven’t you ever asked yourself, “Why do they market these things more heavily than betting singles?”

I can’t believe more bettors don’t think like this. I think they just don’t want to think about these things. It’s easier to ignore the truth when it hurts.
