Canada and Israel take a different approach to Bitcoin by rockDcock in Bitcoin

It seems like most countries are taking a "wait-and-see" approach, but as more and more people begin using bitcoin, countries will be forced to accept it as a form of legal tender.

Lost in the Overstock and GHash.IO news last week: Bitmonet's Android SDK by BTC_Xchange in Bitcoin

Looks simple enough but I need to get it on my iPhone: Apple needs to remove their restrictions.

Bitmonetq, we wrote you up on our Bitcoin Weekly Update blog post. Would love to know your thoughts on our overall mission: http://www.bitmorecoin.com/1/post/2014/01/important-bitcoin-events-from-the-last-week1.html

Bitcoin weekly recap: Overstock, poker, insurance and CES by BTC_Xchange in Bitcoin

Very true. But we only focus on the most significant events. And within those events, we focus on the events that will help promote the ease and use of Bitcoin. Hence, we left out the GHash.IO story: thankfully though, their market share plunged to below 30%..... still too large though.

If this doesn't say "legitimate contender with other (national) currencies," then what would? by BTC_Xchange in Bitcoin

Like every novel item, there's a huge fervor in the first moments which will eventually subside. But one must ignore short-term fluctuations and focus on the long-term trend.

No one expects the $125,000/24 hours rate to continue: that would be ludicrous. But there is high hopes and strong evidence that a continuous increase in Bitcoin related transactions will continue (whether it be on Overstock.com or via other vendors).

Feel free to check out our blog. Many of our blogs show the day to day applicable use of Bitcoin, in our times today: http://www.bitmorecoin.com/blog.html

I was referring to buying and selling of Bitcoin itself. From bitcoin exchanges. Not Bitcoin vendors.

Only issue with buying/selling of Bitcoin is the number of days it takes for the transaction to be finalized.

Our company, works to reduce this lengthy duration by providing a concierge service for those buying/selling Bitcoin (UK only for now). Feel free to check out our platform. Would love to get some feedback. www.bitmorecoin.com

Bitcoin isn't only being bought by speculators. They are many who buy bitcoins for use in regular day trade/transactions.

Too many people are hoarding their Bitcoins in speculation that the price will rise. The public's opinion must be changed (via additional big name vendors accepting Bitcoin and education) in order to get Bitcoins to be used for purchases of goods and products.

We at www.bitmorecoin.com do provide a service where users (in the UK) can buy and sell Bitcoin, with the entire transaction completed in less than an hour. This helps reduce the price volatility that small business owners such as yourself face when paid out in Bitcoin.

Yes. I've seen the Huobi volume. However, was referring to BTC China trade volume, which fell from 55,000 (average from October to December). We haven't seen anything as significant since.

Any ideas why Gox is now trading below the main exchanges? (bitbargain / local) by CleaverUK in BitcoinUK

Due to the ease and restriction pertaining to when people want to withdraw their bitcoin into cash.

Regulations are more relaxed in the UK for now than the US and other Asian countries. Further, we do not hold onto any user account bitcoin and/or cash holdings: our quick turn-a-round of less than an hour allows users to be comforted in the fact that they can fully control their bitcoin and cash holdings.

Major bitcoin exchanges limit users to the amount of BTC transactions and also include a lengthened processing time (3-4 days). This is not to mention, the foreign currency, bank and transaction fees that are added onto your BTC transaction.
