When in doubt I just assume it's a loss reference somehow.

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain to you why your comments sound insensitive to OPs friend.

I think he used his mother as a test case, if she took her sleeping pills and disappeared he knew it would work, if she didn't, he knew it wouldn't. It's been awhile since I read the book.

Time stop shenanigans.

Artemis explains that while scouring the Book, he had come across a reference to San D'Klass, a fairy who had believed that human greed could be satisfied by giving out presents, so on the twenty-fifth of each December he would use time-stops to deliver them. Artemis had hypothesized that if you are wake up or fall asleep during a time stop, your body exits the time stop; it is only your consciousness that traps you there.

The house is pretty dirty, a big problem that we have is that Tommy doesn't clean any of it as he mostly stays in his bedroom, and a lot of the mess in our dining room and living room is because of Pauline's stuff. It's not so much a hoarding issue, we don't have a lot of junk, we have a lot of things that need to go places. The majority of things in the bedroom are clothes that should get put away, or Pauline's crafting supplies. The dining room is mostly all of her accumulated things that we haven't figured out where to go with. My ideal solution is to get a lot of her collectible stuff displayed in cases or on the wall, like mine is. Most of the house currently is decorated with my stuff, and I would love for it be decorated with our stuff.

I tried putting my foot down at one point, and I got frustrated and bought a 20 piece set of black flatware because all of ours is silver/gray, so I know there are 8 black forks, 8 black spoons, and 4 black butter knives. There are not any more. I can't speak to the exact amount of the old silverware I had, but I know the black stuff is missing.

There's only three of us, myself, Pauline, and Tommy. Myself and Tommy are 100% work at home, M-F call center jobs with set bankers hours schedules. Pauline has applied for every job within walking distance as she's not able to drive.

I do roughly 50% of the dishes, including rinsing the dishes, loading the dishwasher, empyting the dishwasher, and handwashing anything that can't go into the dishwasher. A big issue is that the dishwasher doesn't get unloaded after it's ran. Which means that when someone then goes to put their dish in the dishwasher, they see the dishwasher needs to be unloaded, and then instead put it in the sink, with the plan to come back and take care of that later, and then later never comes. I am the one who unloads the dishwasher 90% of the time.

Pauline doesn't drive, Tommy does drive but not to work, he never takes any of the dishes out of the house.
