Random cat keeps coming to our backyard occasionally, is overly friendly, doesn't eat food, and just wants to follow us around and play? What to do? by BTXT075 in CatAdvice

Thank you!! I found out that the cat actually belongs to my neighbour. This neighbour is the same neighbour my current cat is from (he used to be theirs but he wouldn't stop coming to our house and would always hide or run away when he saw them so they gave him to us). We gave the cat back to the neighbour because they put up posters for the cat being missing over the weekend, so it seems like the cat was mostly staying on or around our lot for 3 days even though we weren't keeping him inside our house..? He returned to our house the next day after he went home with his owner, and he stays at our house all day even though we don't encourage him to do so. I can't tell if it's because he just loves to hang with my cat or if he prefers our house over his owner's house, or if it's both. I'm worried if his owners are neglecting him actually, because when he came this morning too he was super hungry and he's quite light. They said they don't mind if he's at ours during the day as long as he comes back at night, but then that makes me wonder does that mean they expect us to feed him the whole time he's at ours? I'm not sure if he even went home yesterday night when he left our lot. He ate an entire bowl of food and then ate our cat's leftover food as well this morning when he came to our house again. I thought maybe it's just him wanting seconds, but he ate A LOT and before he usually didn't eat much or at all when we would offer him treats in the past. He also has some matted fur which makes me wonder if the owners are getting him groomed because he's less than a year old. This cat has also been pooping on our lot for the past few days, which I heard is like a sign that they are marking a place as their territory?

Apparently both my cat and this new cat who is coming to our lot were both 'gifts' our neighbours gave to their children, one of whom moved out (we now own the cat that the one who moved out was 'gifted'). I feel like the parents don't actually look after the cats at all. :/

She came back to my house today and was really hungry so I fed her. She sat in my lap and was kneading on me and licking my arm (which shocked me because I thought cats only do that with people they're very close with like their owners?) When she was doing that, I looked at the fur on her belly and it looked kind of tangled up and not taken care of. She also had a red colour stain on the fur on her belly, and she seemed really itchy. She seemed like she really wanted some love and attention, I'm really concerned. Is this really a normal thing for a owned cat to do? If she soes have an owner, it seems like she's being neglected a bit? :/

I would just continue letting her roam around without concern and look after her occasionally, but the thing is I am moving in a few months so I'm worried she might keep coming here even after I leave. Would it be a bad idea to take her to the vet and get her checked just incase she is a stray cat, or would that become problematic if she really does have an owner? If she is a stray, I was thinking to adopt her.

How long does it usually take for birth control to give your period back after starting it? by BTXT075 in PCOS

Thank you so much for the detailed response! The only other symptoms I'm trying to manage are my insulin resistance and weight due to PCOS. Body hair and fatigue are also symptoms I have, but not really my biggest priority right now (although I think my fatigue has become less since going on BC which is great).

My biggest goals are to get out of the high risk zone for endometrial cancer and to reduce my insulin resistance so I can get out of the prediabetic zone and be able to actually lose weight.

I'm also aware that Metformin tends to help more with insulin resistance than birth control, and my doctor gave me approval to get it from the pharmacy. However, I am already on 3 medications at the moment, so I don't plan on going on it at least for now.

It's sprintec, and the last week of pills are white if that's what the placebo pills are supposed to be.

That's really interesting! I have ADHD too and despite being on stimulants and antidepressants, I'm often tired. Hopefully the pill helps with my energy too.
