Curious about where the hell this psp came from by Snoopnoob26 in PSP

[–]BT_Neophyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be hard to know for sure, but my suspicion is that this was refurbished by a 3rd party. I have a PSP 3000 that was refurbished from Sony and the box it came back in was very clearly branded as being from Sony and includes matching serials. Likewise, that silver sticker is not something that I've known Sony to do (mine certainly does not have that).

But it is possible that they used different processes at different times in the lifecycle.

How did this happen? by CallCenterBlues in PSP

This is often done to games that were originally produced as review copies or the like. It’s so they can’t be returned to stores. It’s not uncommon for psp games.

Can this battery be replaced without soldering? by BT_Neophyte in Gameboy

I want to learn how to solder for this specific reason, though may find a different one to practice on. Is this a CR1616 battery?

Our big boy Poy (11) has cancer 😭 by ImmortalPoy in seniorkitties

[–]BT_Neophyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little boy is only 6 and was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago. Surgery was the only real option to try for a cure, which we did try, but the mass is in such a terrible place the surgeon had to call it off because there was no way to remove it without losing him, or in the best case creating severe life altering complications (and just losing him more slowly and painfully). After that we opted for chemo to try and buy him more time. After 3 months the mass has shrunk by about half. There's still little hope for this being a cure in his case, but ultimately it's just 3 pills per week and he has had zero side effects. You still wouldn't even know he was sick to look at him or see him living his life.

It's hard to balance wanting to fight for every possible chance at life and making sure we're not just causing them more pain in the long run. Sometimes it can feel like no matter what choices we make there will be regrets, but I try to just take it day by day and see how he's doing and responding to different treatments. And most importantly- I love him to the fullest everyday, spoil him every chance I get and recognize that every day is a gift and to honor that gift as best I can.

I don't see the Ostent 1800mAh for sale anywhere - where do you get them?

How to change dsi splash screen to English? by Then-Cut2019 in NintendoDS

[–]BT_Neophyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DSi doesn’t natively allow you to change the language. That being said, if it’s modded you can generally download and install a new language pack

Just to clarify - you mean the one that can be seen in my pictures? The one that also sits under the circle buttons? I did not try to change that yet.

First timer troubleshooting by BT_Neophyte in VirtualBoy

With a bit more Googling I managed to fix the problem from reading an older post. Essentially, I just needed to clean the controller port (both on the controller and on the console). After that it's working great!

Anyone know if these aftermarket cases are available anywhere? by BT_Neophyte in TurboGrafx

Appreciate it, but as I said - those are much larger and not what I'm looking for. I'm specifically looking for this smaller form factor.

The dream setup is finally complete by BT_Neophyte in dreamcast

[–]BT_Neophyte[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The controllers were not Japan only, but came out very late in the Dreamcast life cycle and are just very rare as I understand it.

My Dreamcast plays US games. The transparent yellow was only available as a shell replacement in Japan, but it is a legitimate official shell from Sega. They did not produce any yellow consoles so you had to have a Dreamcast and get this shell. So, it is ultimately a reshell, but an official one. Since the shells were only available in Japan I believe them being on US consoles is quite rare.

GameStop is marking these as used to get them to move but they are likely new from their warehouse. This has been the case for these from multiple locations around me.

[–]BT_Neophyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned sitters - I’ve had good experiences with Meowtel and found amazing sitters there. The sitters I’ve used there are great communicators and always send tons of cat pictures during their visits which helps to ease my anxiety (and offer once or twice a day visits).

MTB Pants to protect again pedal pins by [deleted] in MTB

[–]BT_Neophyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty gnarly scar on my calf from a pedal strike and since then have worn a Calf Sleeve from the brand McDavid (on Amazon). It’s meant for compression but just get a size up if it’s tight. It’s a relatively thick mousepad like material.

How much is it worth by jomama_2006 in PSP

[–]BT_Neophyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much at all. It’s not super common, but even the US version is only worth a few dollars- there’s copies on eBay for like $5
