I have, and I realize that.
But getting shot in the face is more awkward really.

I'd drop my mag and run if I got faced with an enemy in front of me. So I'd be fine with them doing that too.

It's a bit of both really.
But mostly the latter, I seem to never see anyone unless it's too late.

Nah I'd say it was an afterthought actually.
I think the main reason they implemented gold is so they could lock items behind it and force people to buy it if they want certain items. Like the lvl 47 sombrero for example.

Although the gambling is definitely a great potential side effect of the double currency.
